Ok, Clint, I'm going to need a no-shit assessment of what time I can show up and miss most of the opening bands. Believe it or not, I'm more worried about the prospect of catching Look Out Loretta than anything (if they're the band I'm thinking of).
I have to work for the Des Moines show, so I figure I'll hit Lames instead.

Tonight in Ames it is just Look Out Loretta, us, and DGB. Music starts at around 10:00. If you show up around 11:15 you will miss Look Out Loretta and most of our set, if not all of it. DGB will probably play from 11:15-11:30 until they tell us we have to shut it down.
Tomorrow in Des Moines, Joe, and anyone else who doesn't like TVA, we should be done playing around 6:30-6:45... Come after that to see Slaughterhouse 6 and DGB.
(I just got off the phone with DGB. They are only traveling with 1 horn player... That kinda sucks.)

Ok, cool. I didn't want to see "The Fighting Side" either. I hear we're supposed to get freezing rain later, if that's the case I think I'm going to stay home. I-35 North of Des Moines is a real bitch during shitty weather. If not, I'll be there and most likely I'll bring your DVD.

i can only assume the fightin' side consists of a bunch of dumbasses who misinterpreted a merle haggard song.

I hope that's a typo.

So I went to see this show tonight. As planned, I showed up halfway into the Vandon Arm's set.
According to my sources, they only played one DKM cover. They've improved to the point where I'd say they're a legitimate band and drifting towards being a little more original. I know it's common and more accepted in the fiddley-dee music circuit to play covers of traditional songs, so I'll give them a little bit of leeway here but they still seem to be a wee bit short, laddy. I think the "Tell Me Ma" cover came off a little akward and they should probably go back to the drawing board with that one. Fuck, just cover the Tosser's version of it. A lot of people seemed to be into them, I guess.
Deal's Gone Bad was pretty good. I would've liked to see them perform something from the first album ("Large and In Charge"), but that didn't happen. They were good with audience interaction and musically on point. I think they'll go over a little better in Des Moines than in Ames though. There were a handful of college girls there dancing with each other and there was one girl with a really nice rack who actually knew all the songs and was pretty cool. I guess she's going to be at the show in Des Moines too, so be on the lookout for large boobs.
I'm glad I finally got to see Deal's Gone Bad. I've wanted to see them for a while, they're one of a small group of bands that are keeping that sound alive.

You should just make a new thread...
I'm into it, I didn't make it last time.
