Don't want to live in a shitty place or neighborhood
Need a garage
Must allow cats
Under $800/month (prefer 5-700)

Sherman fucking hill dude! Right near downtown, most of the apartment complexs allow cats and are pretty cheap. 5-650ish range, it's a beautiful neighborhood and I never had any problems. Some of the buildings have parking lots but not sure about garages. My building had one attached for an extra 50 bucks a month I think. I only used it in the winter.

Those apartments are fucked though and one of the worst around here. A few weeks ago I heard about twenty gunshots from down that way, I went to the police scanner webpage and listened for a while. I'd like to see them demolished and all the occupants carted off somewhere far, far away from here.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, dudes. The contract at my current job may have been extended for 6 more months so I may not be moving until the winter, but we will see. I really want to get away from here so maybe something will work out.

Chad, quit your job and move to DSM. I'd say that most of the places in Sherman Hill do not have garages. Most regular old apartment complexes have the garage option while still keeping you within your budget. Would you be getting a 1 or 2 bedroom? Move into the vacant house across the street from my parents.
