Soooo yeah...you know youve talk about it. We are closing up shop. As of thursday feb 25th the picador will be no longer. We want you all to know that we love you and are thankful for all the times you came out to shows and had a good time. Do not despair though. The Venue will remain a venue! We are just getting new owners and the name of the venue will change. Some new faces may be around but rest assured that the shows will continue and that ALL SHOWS THAT ARE BOOKED AS OF NOW WILL STILL BE HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BE SURE TO ATTEND THE FINAL SHOW AT THE PICADOR! 5 pm all ages! 8 band Bill!!!!!! and stay for the OUTRAGEOUS 2 Floor Dance party!!!!!!!! we will all be gettin our groove on for the last time under a "picador" roof.

Some local business owner that also owns a few sports bars bought it. I think the reality of it is that the guy some the marketability of the Gabes name so he is changing it back in hopes that the old crowd will go there thinking it's the same again. Not going to happen. NONE of the old staff will be working there, including the guy that did booking since the 80's, he was fired a few weeks before the picador sold even though he was part owner.

He is trying REALLY hard to get people all nostalgic on the Gabes facebook page. Some cool photos from when Nirvana and some other sweet bands played have been posted though.

I dunno. It will never be the same. If they get a sound system that doesn't sound like total shit, book bands that aren't horrible, welcome the crazies that hang out there, and have good drink specials they will be fine.....but I doubt those things will happen.

They fired all of the staff from the Picador, all my friends, and they are going to bring in their own people to run the joint.

Yeah, that dude. He has always been really cool the times I have been around him and Diplomats of solid sound are awesome. In the article I read it said that he had a partial stake in the business and the owners were returning his investment to him, that sounded like "partial owner" to me. I was just assuming though.

I went to a show at the Blue Moose a couple weeks ago, the place seemed pretty cool, the stage area was cool, Mews sized stage, decent crowd area. It definitely has potential.
