If it's 19+, I'm not playing. Simple as that. Sorry to my band/Nick, but I'm never playing another age-restricted show. Say what you want, my mind is made up.

This was a jab at me, wasn't it? :(

Well, this sucks, but I'm not gonna sit here and try to change your mind if you feel that strongly about playing age restricted shows.

Trust me, I wanted nothing more than this show to A) stay in Des Moines B) be an all ages show. BUT...time was ticking quick and nothing was really panning out in Des Moines. DMSC was booked, Mews was booked (both all ages and late show that night), Beechwood and other bars that might have hosted this are all 21+, and trying to find an alternative all-ages spot (community center, etc.) would have been a lot of extra money out of my pocket, as well as a hassle to deal with.

Then I saw The Picador didn't have anything booked for March 5th. I contacted Rachel from Lipstick Homicide and asked if she knew the contact there (since they're from IC). She said she did and actually said she'd ask about the possibility of moving this show there. She got back to me and said it was a go. I contacted Ben from The Transgressions and asked if they were cool with traveling a few hours further East. He said yes, so I booked this. I wanted to jump on it, as who knows if someone else would have booked that night if I had waited even one more day?

So yeah, it sucks this show isn't gonna be in Des Moines and an all ages event. BUT...I think the Picador was the most logical alternative for this to be a good show for the band(s) and others. I think turnout in Iowa City could actually be a little better than here in Des Moines too, as Lipstick Homicide has a lot of fans over there.

I apoligize to Boy Meets World for not fully discussing this with you before I booked the show, but I didn't know how to contact you other than on here and time was ticking. I had to make a descision. :(

And, as of now, I have a car with 3 open spots in it and I will be driving over to the show that night and then coming back afterwards. Thom and Eric....you guys have first dibs if you want a ride.

Also....I respect Shane's decision, even if I'm still bummed they aren't playing this. And it will not dissuade me at all from asking Boy Meets World to play any all ages show that I may happen to book in the future.

As a matter of fact, they'll be one of the first bands I do contact. All solid dudes and a great band.

for all you dudes not making it to iowa city, there is still a show at the mews on this night.
Even today, I can't see a car run a red light without instantly having an image flash into my head of a man's erect penis, penetrating a watermelon.

UGH I SUCK

The fact that absolutely no one in Des Moines has a basement that this show could happen at/in is mind blowing.

I think it's more along the lines, no one wants their homes ruined. I would love to do shows in mine, but I'm even too tall to stand up straight down there.

The answer is: Yes. No BMW though. Jack from the Picador pretty much took over this show and booked some other band (who aren't very good, but will "draw" decent) in place of them. :(
