it has essentially the same menu, with vegan options, it always has. people complain about the new owners, but i haven't noticed anything different about the place. joe coppola owned it before and that guy is a fucking douchebag. not allowing metal posters with nuns having fetuses ripped out of them by lucifers epic cock or offensive words shouldn't come as a surprise. they're a business. some family doesn't want to come in and have their kids see a poster with tits on it or the word "cunt". no big deal.

i used to prefer caribous sumatra but i think it had more to do with being in the MOA than taste.

i hate java joes mostly due to all the painfully unhip people who believe java joes is the hippest spot in des moines. if i give directions to almost anything to a great number of young people who are not cool, i have to use java joes as a reference point. and it's not even a cool place!

i rarely patronize any of the places downtown and i dont drink coffee. java joes used to have good sandwiches and juice, thats all i know about it.
