the Road was good, but i don't think i would've liked it as much had i not read the book. superb acting and some fantastic cameos but it just moved along in a weird way. killer soundtrack though.

i saw it yesterday. i actually thought i mightve enjoyed the movie more i hadnt have read the book, since i knew basically what was gonna happen. wtf was with the narration? reminded me of bladerunner. it didnt seem necessary... i enjoyed the movie tho. "Omar" needs more work.

I saw this yesterday as well. It was a lot better than I was expecting it to be. That was some bad casting with Andy Garcia as the villain though. Robert Downey Jr. was really good, as was Jude Law.

I was talking to a friend about Sherlock Holmes and was told that Robert Downey's portrayal was the closest interpretation to the character from the books yet. Similar to whats being done with Daniel Craig as James Bond.

ah, i see where you're going with this. you're (incorrectly) comparing my occasional visits to those corporations to the fact that the movie's entire premise is centered around the perils of deforestation while simultaneously partnering with a company that contributes directly to the destruction of the amazon rain forest(which is ironic to say the least).

I just had to ask, how exactly is MuckDonalds contributing to the destruction of the amazon? Since (I'm assuming) they get their beans from that shit-hole of a continent, wouldn't that be counterproductive/counter-profitable to their business to DESTROY it?
Or was this just a subtle way of bitching about Capitalism?

I know, I was actually trying to watch that one. I caught the very end of it on abc family and I saw Dweezil Zappa in the credits (along with HR) so while it was still on I hit info/looked for 'more showings' (all this shit is on directv) and it showed it was going to be on again the next night so I set the auto-tune for it.
I completely forgot about it the next day but then auto-tune reminded me it was on (thanks autotune! right?). It took me all of five seconds to realize it wasn't the right one, but I ended up watching it anyway. Probably worth every second of my time. Really weak storyline, horrible special effects, pathetic 'actors'. All-in-all, top-notch. Would recommend.
Jack Frost 2 was really shitty though. I actually gave up on that one and did something else. There were a few instances where the writers attempted to poke fun at themselves, letting you know, that THEY know it's cheesy and shitty- but that's never funny, so they fucked the whole thing up. I'd have to watch it again. If I was wrong about them poking fun at themselves, then it seriously could be a GREAT movie. There's a cameo at the beginning from the guy who played Mr. Pitt on Seinfeld. Really gay though.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is a really fun movie. How those guys can just bounce around like they weigh nothing when they look like lumberjacks I don't understand. The part where they steal the women is hilarious. Good movie if you are into lush technicolor musicals.

While I'm sure the majority of that continent is a shithole, it does a few good spots. I hope to retire in Montevideo, Uruguay in 30 years. You get a safe, peaceful, clean, cultured European style city in a stable country with easy access to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo (to a lesser extent) and great weather at rock bottom prices.



Anyways, for the past couple of days I've been watching Star Trek TNG season 1. I never really got into Star Trek, as a kid I'd watch it here and there but I'm hooked. I'm only halfway through the first season, I've got a ways to go.

To End All Wars. It's ok. It's about Scottish soldiers in a Japanese POW camp during WWII and all they went through. Sadistic guards, torture, disease, forced labor, internal fighting, starvation, etc. I met a man who spent some time in a Japanese prison camp during WWII and listened to him give a speech about his experience, shit's unreal. I think this one was supposed to be based off a true story as well.

I saw Up In the Air. It's one of those very strange, quiet movies that walks with you out of the theater. I'd recommend it, if not just for George Clooney being so darn easy on the eyes. Am I right, ladies??
