Attention Local Bands!

Don't know if anyone is interested or cares, but thought I'd pass this along just the same


March 26, 2009 --- DES MOINES, IOWA ------ The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) for the City of Des Moines announces its plan for DM Palooza a unique opportunity for youth to showcase and enjoy local talent, learn about the Youth Advisory Board, and gain a greater sense of community in their own city. DM Palooza is a one day concert taking place at Simon Estes Amphitheater in downtown Des Moines to showcase the talented youth throughout the city. High school students who have formed a band and live in the Des Moines metropolitan area can enter the competition to be featured on DM Palooza. The audience favorite at DM Palooza show will be offered the opportunity to play in the Des Moines 80/35 Festival in July along side some the biggest band from across the nation. The 80/35 Festival will feature more than 40 acts over the course of two days in the paid and free areas. Top national acts, local favorites, up-and-comers and industry icons!
Bands are urged to apply now. Applications and questions should be sent to dmpalooza@gmail.com. Deadline to apply is April 10, 2009. Applications should include the following:

• Name of the band
• Names and ages of band members
• School(s)
• Contact information
• A website for the band if available (Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, or other)
• Past performances (when and where)
• A sample or demo CD if available
DM Palooza is scheduled for Friday, June 12th from 3 pm to 7 pm. The Youth Advisory Board is now calling bands from the Des Moines area to sign up. In order to be eligible, applying bands must be comprised of high school students or recent graduates.
The Youth Advisory Board serves the Des Moines City Council, providing a voice for youth in city government. The mission of the Youth Advisory Board is to improve community through youth involvement.

how young do they consider "youth." Is there an age restriction or something.
