Here is the full picture:

Next to me is Sam Summers. This was taken at Principal Park, as Sam's brother was playing in the state tournament. We were seated along the first base line, and a pop fly came at us. Of course, it's that type of thing where you're saying, "There's no way that's gonna come at me, there's no way that's gonna come at me," and then, it totally does.

So what's happening is this:
-I am putting my hands up like a total wimp, anticipating a disaster
-Sam is trying to catch the ball, and fails hard
-The first baseman tries to catch the ball too, and fails even harder, slamming his ribs right into the wall and needing to be carried off the field

All of this was caught on film by a photographer for the Register, and the world is a better place for it. Note how the first baseman looks like he's screaming at me.

I prefer the business of the the full photograph. Avatar is funny too.

Fun story, Elliot.

that is my new favorite picture ever.
Even today, I can't see a car run a red light without instantly having an image flash into my head of a man's erect penis, penetrating a watermelon.

UGH I SUCK

I'm honestly surprised that this picture isn't an internet phenomenon by now. An absolute masterpiece.
....just kidding.

what if the ball broke elliot's glasses, and the photographer got a picture of it the moment the ball made contact. oh god it would be so good!
