Re: zeee bandcamp
True story. It seems the post that started the group was lost some time between 2005 and now, though.
It was a fun group to be in for the short amount of time we were together.

I'm quitting music because this is too good: http://thevahnevants.bandcamp.com/releases hey hey bum oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooout Wow, sounds like old surf / garage rock played on one of those crummy Crosley record players with the rubber belt wheel that wears out after a couple months. Fun stuff!

Re: zeee bandcamp
I listened to the Bite My Tongue stuff once through a while back. I'll try to offer some better comments when I can take another listen. From what I remember the first time around: 1. You guys have a sort of Flipper vibe going. You're just missing the discordant guitarist. 2. Every song seems to not...

Goldblums on Bandcamp / "Rambo Knife"
https://goldblums.bandcamp.com Ended up listening to their tunes tonight. Their song "Rambo Knife" reminded me how popular "survival knives" were with some kids back in the '80s (especially the knives with built-in compasses). On one of the streaming services I subscribe to, they...

I see your guitar went missing a while back, but why does that mean you can't rent a space in this building any more?

Re: practice places
I looked into this last winter, and there's really only one space: 524 E. 6th St (same building as the Alba Restaurant). A lot of bands practice there already, but there were a few rooms still available to rent when I checked. Some rooms may have limitations on use due to adjacent businesses' open h...

Band looking for other band(s) to share practice space
My hipster band is looking for another band or two to share a practice space with us to keep rent cheap for everyone involved. One room is smaller (and cheaper) and would require each band to clean up their stuff (put drums away) to make room for the other band(s). The other space is huge and drums ...

Re: diy sound proofing tips.
Buy some cheap foam mattress pads from a Dollar General or Kmart, roll them up and stick them in the window areas. Put some old carpet on the floor, blankets or egg cartons on the walls... I had a similar incident with an old band of mine (cops came). We put the foam mattress pad stuff in the window...

I'm glad to see El Rhino is more than holding his own in this thread... Varg: Why are you looking for the Federal Government for "job creation"? I think that's the point Ryan's trying to make here. The best thing D.C. can do is to cut spending and reduce unnecessary regulations to help pro...

Re: amp help
Earlier this year I bought an Ampeg VT-22 (basically a self-contained version of the Ampeg V-4). 100 watts and you'll definitely hear yourself over everything! The good part about these is they're much cheaper than the Fender Twin Reverbs. The bad part is they weigh a lot (88 lbs.)! I suppose the V-...

Re: How much is my Nintendo stuff worth?
Agreed: Take the $300. The Punch-Out game you have without Mike Tyson's name on it is actually a later release (after Tyson got in trouble), and it's more rare, but not all that much rare. They changed his character to "Mr. Dream". Pretty cool, huh? Ski or Die and Stanley are the most rare...

I haven't seen the movie in a very long time, but I'm just a fan of the "Great White North" skits from SCTV in general. I saw your avatar so thought I'd go with the other half (Dave Thomas) for mine...Nick wrote:Nice avatar. Best. Movie. Ever.

Re: somebody educate me on making a record
CDs are 16-bit sound and you'll definitely lose some quality. Someone mentioned using 32-bit float: That's the better way to go (burning files to some data CD/DVD instead of burning a 16-bit audio CD). I'd recommend finding someone with a 2-track reel machine for the final product, but that's just m...

Re: Varg's Blues
(The Rolling Stones) purely STUMBLED across "good writing"; They didn't intentionally write well . (Keith Richards) just worked it out until it "sounded good" to him. That is guesswork....and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. What sounds good to keith is based off of ...
