des moines scene is a pop scene.

its crazy to me that there isnt anyone playing that 80/35 bullshit that i want to see. there is nothing that dsm has spent money on that i find any "scene" value in.

I think overall this is an attempt to create hype and excitement about something that doesn't really exist. If you asked me the scene was a great deal more interesting 5 or 10 years ago with no press, less venues, no city band festivals, and shows were events.

Or we are all getting older and are out of loop. Cause I know I am.

Poison Control Center and Christopher the Conquered are two of the very few bands I care about in this town, so as long as they're getting the proper love, I'm cool with it.

If it's good enough for Al Capone and Shane's dad it's good enough for me.

absolutely.

templeton is marketed as an iowa product. it is not produced here, just labeled here. and its way too sweet for a rye.

#1 I'm pretty sure Cedar Ridge doesn't even make a rye, or at least that I've seen. Are you comparing bourbon to rye whiskey, and if so why?

#2 Cedar Ridge is a lot sweeter than Templeton if you do want to compare.

#3 You guys are crazy!

Haha it's called Templeton because of the history of that town's bootlegging, which I'm sure you're aware of. They use the original recipe from IOWA and it's still bottled there, not sure why that bothers you so much that it's distilled in Illinois or wherever.

Templeton is sweeter than other ryes because it's an Iowa recipe. The same reason bourbons in general are sweeter than ryes - the corn.

no no no
i hate the fact that they market it as an iowa product. it does not come from here. it is not made here. it can fuck right off.

i understand the sweetness of booze. rye SHOULD be sweaty not sweet. so obviously that recipe sucks.

its called tempelton because some big wig lawyer rich daddies boy didnt want to get a real job so he stole or bought some families recipe and hoodwinked a whole town into believing his hype and now he sells their wares that theyre proud of in other states. fuck that mother fucker with jailbreaks dick.

Actually after reading the Templeton site after my previous post it says 90% of the grains are rye and the other 10% are malted barley, so I have no idea why you think it's so sweet. I haven't even had it in a few years since I don't live in Iowa anymore, I just want to talk about booze...

The descriptions I'm reading of those makes me think they're not my thing, but if I see them around I'd like to try them. I've been drinking way more beer lately. most recently:

Recommend me a super smokey scotch or single malt that isn't Laphroaig. Also as cheap as possible please.
