YESSIOWA Benefit Concert- 3-6-11
Posted: Mon Feb 07, 2011 3:25 pm
Youth Emergency Services & Shelter of Iowa – commonly referred to as YESS – is a private, non-profit organization in Des Moines, Iowa.
YESS has helped kids and parents be families since 1973. From its beginning as a small drop-in center for teens, YESS has grown into a well-established and highly regarded agency designed to keep children safe and families together. The range of YESS’ programs and services for children continues ...to be a vital safety-net in the community. . . .Providing safety, care and support for children, newborn through age 17, and their families during times of crisis in their lives.
YESSIOWA has helped myself and many others get through trying times in their lives. I organized this benefit with the idea of helping YESS out, to do something to give back. We will be having a benefit show with all proceeds going to YESSIOWA. You will be able to either pay the entrance fee at the door or donate an item from the needs listed posted on YESS' website: http://yessiowa.typepad.com/. There will also be 2 donation jars, one at the merch table and one at the door that you will be able to donate further if you wish. Local tattoo artist Paul Nycz will be designing a shirt specially made for this show that will be able to be purchased as well. Local musician Jeffrey Eaton from Modern Life Is War has volunteered for YESSIOWA and has agreed to help out on getting this show thrown together. Both Paul and Jeff's help are greatly appreciated.
I would encourage anyone that can come see bands that either you love already, would like to check out and havent, want to see new bands you've never seen before, or just want to stop by to donate to do so. We're hoping to make this a regular event in the future so anyone that can help out will also be greatly appreciated. YESSIOWA is a worthy cause.
We will be posting here in this FB event the exact figures on how many people paid to get in, how many shirts sold and how much donated in the jars. Any questions, feel free to post and I'll answer to the best of my ability.
The bands on the bill are as follows:
Knuckled Down
Motivated
Omens
6000 Wings and the Bended Bow
Crusader
Just Do It
Doors will be at 4pm and music will start at 430pm.
