From start to finish this is a destructive wall of noise. Untune The Sky was put out in 1997 on Goodfellow Records. Acacia was from London, Ontario, Canada. The singer is now a part of Thine Eyes Bleed. Even though there aren't many tracks on this CD, they are long songs. Their sound could be likened to Bloodlet, Maharaj, Coalesce, Overcast, Unfold, Starkweather, Neurosis, or Kiss it Goodbye. The vocals are layered and are more of a more black metal-fashioned scream, but they fit well with the music. Most of the songs consist abrasive riffs accompanied by cascading tom-fills. The remainder is rounded out with noisy and dissonant steam rolling sludge. There are ambient and clean guitar passages placed throughout the record that give nice balance to the heavy end of things. The recording isn't 100% amazing, but you can hear everything just fine and there is a considerable amount of low end for you with a treble phobia. It's not over-produced and it actually sounds like people playing their instruments, not machines. Untune The Sky is 5 long tracks of bleak and uncomfortable, brutal, crawling mid-90s hardcore before "metalcore" was the norm. It will leave you wanting more...You need this.
