A few recent records by Iowa bands that you should order

Some bands in Iowa are doing shit:

Agress s/t 7'
Image

Don't let the lame mosh pictures going on on the 7"'s labels throw you off, this is some pretty nasty and sludgey influenced hardcore. Definitely my favorite band coming out of the Cedar Falls hardcore scene. Crusties might even be into this, it's got dbeats and shit. It's nasty though, for real, not tame or lame.
Order: http://volatilerecordings.bigcartel.com/ or get it from the band.

Black Market Fetus / Radiolokator split LP

Serious good shit. Fetus, from Des Moines obviously, is heavy. A few new ones, a few re-recorded old ones, and a few covers make up their side. The song the Black Sea that they have been playing live and totally rips is on this record, so that should be enough to pick it up. Radiolokator is some pretty good thrash metal from over in Sweden or some shit. The only problem with this release is that it's Europe only, so if you didn't get one of the 20 copies the band got over here in the states, then you gotta order it all the way from across the pond.

Land of Blood and Sunshine - Into the Mystery Lp
Image

I just got this in the mail yesterday and listened to it last night. Amazing. Incredibly catchy and poppy lo-fi folky rock-n-roll jams out of Marshalltown. Much better sounding than their last album Magic Carcass ride, which is still pretty good in it's own right, but Into the Mystery just kills it in every way.
Order: http://www.verynicedementia.com or get it from the band.

Wet Hair / Peaking Lights split 7"
Image

Very chill starting Wet Hair, from Iowa City, track here, soon gradually leading into a breakbeat keyboard freaky deaky jam. A good one, that's for sure, this band is heading in a direction that I really, really like. Peaking Lights is a band that I can never get into live, but recorded is a whole different story. Catchy psych shit, I don't know how to explain this type of music, but it's good. Part of the Not Not Fun 7" singles club series.
Order: http://www.notnotfun.com/now.html or get it from the bands.

Wet Hair / Naked on the Vague split LP
Image

This record has my favorite Wet Hair song ever on it, "In the Garden of the Pharaohs". It's on their myspace, so go listen to it and see what I mean. I guess this record is considered the culmination of their duo keyboard pop phase, I suppose, since they've now added a bass player and have morphed into a sorta full fledged band... but still retain the poppy sound. Fuck it, get this shit. Naked of the Vague is good, but the Wet Hair side just kills it so I don't listen to the Vague side as much.
Order: http://www.night-people.org/ or from the band.

Listen to these jams.
Next up: bangin' tapes.

I'll get this shit in at the library. You'll be able to find em in the Iowa Stacks.
