When I was in 7th and 8th grade in band, we would march in the Tulip Time parade. It was always a pretty good time and kinda the highlight of the year. It was also the only reason to not drop band after 7th grade.

i ended up dropping band at the start of 10th grade. the only reason i hadnt dropped it before was cause of all the feeling up of the color guard chicks that would happen on the marching band trips.

I dropped band because if you wanted to be in band in 10th grade, you HAD to be in marching band. I did not want to be in marching band.

drumline is fucking sick, and ours was really good, until we bumped up to a 3a school, after which i quit band.
tulip fest is barely marching band. it's parade marching, which is god awful boring.
band chicks are sluts and i got into drugs because of drumline.

I know Tulip Time wasn't parade marching, but it was different than having to sit in the band room or play in the auditorium all year. Plus we got to take really nice busses out there and it was like a badass field trip. Later when you were to go into 10th grade, that was when real marching band happened. I went to Valley which had one of the best marching bands in the country. Not that I give a shit, but....ya know. My sister was in marching band her whole high school career. They would always go to Hawaii, and play whatever at some of the college bowl games. Yeah, I actually DON'T give a shit. Tulip Time was pretty sweet though. I have never been there outside 7th and 8th grade band. Drugs are stupid.
