I remember you saying you go into Ankeny on your lunch breaks occassionally. You'll have another option this summer.

I saw a big banner next to the road along Delaware the other day. They are opening a new Tasty Tacos right between Culver's and that Vision4Less store.

Yeah, then around 2000-ish or so it was a place with a name and style very similar to Tasty Tacos but wasn't Tasty Tacos.

Hmm...I didn't know there used to be one in Ankeny. I'm sure this one will do pretty good? Looks like it will have a prime location.

Supposedly there is a HuHot going in across the street too? In the old Hollywood Video.

The "Samurai Sams" (HuHot wannabe) in Ankeny didn't last long. Wonder if a HuHot will last?

Been to both Smashburgers. Very good burgers. They could improve on the fries a bit.

I still don't understand what the big deal is about Tasty Tacos. They are average at best. If you want kick ass Mexican go to Taqueria Jalisco on E 17th & Grand.

I do like their hot sauce and their chili is pretty good. The taco meat seems to have a hint of dog food flavor to it and their burritos outright suck. It's still nice to see a local business do good.

Pretty much. It's more or less worthless to go there for anything other than tacos. The flour nachos are a guilty pleasure though.

I've honestly never had a single menu item from Tasty Tacos other than a flour taco. And I've been there probably 60 times or more in the last 20 years. Their flour tacos are good, even though I wouldn't really call them "Mexican."

And yeah, their hot sauce does rule too.

To me, it's their tacos that suck the most of anything they have. You can get better tacos from the taco wagons or Taqueria Jalisco.

again it depends on what you grew up with. their tacos are not the best. but their deep fried flour shell and beans in the meat and fine shredded cheese combined with the hot sauce would be something any east sider could ever want. so they make me happy.

I'm sure that's true. I'm not a fan of the deep fried taco shell to begin with, so I once tried a hard shell and it was the taco meat I couldn't get into. Something about the seasoning.

It may sound crazy, but I like the Ortega taco seasoning better than TT's.
