515 Crew

So I'm trying to book The Transgressions from Madison, WI in Des Moines on March 5th. Does anyone know of a place they might play? They said they prefer playing basement/house shows, but I'd be open to other suggestions as well.

This band sings about getting wasted and stoned and they sound a lot like old school Queers/Screeching Weasel mixed with a bit of newer pop punk (ala Rivethead). They like to party and put on a helluva live show, so I know this would be fun. HELP! If you wanna check out what they sound like, you can play their complete new e.p. over on this Last.FM page.

Also...they said they are friends with Chad Ferguson...does he post here/from Des Moines?

Right on. Yeah, I was talking with Ben from The Transgressions and he said he is a moped ridin' buddy with Chad in Madison. Had nice things to say about him.

Chad is cool, he posts on here from time to time. He also played guitar for the short lived band we had Through Hard Times. How relevant that information is...is completely.

I get it...those places are fake. Should have known. Da Bassment threw me off, but could honestly see some place in Des Moines with a shitty name like that? Joe just being a usual dick.

Anyway, if anyone knows of any legit places (preferably house/basement/DIY) for punk shows in the Des Moines area...please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Those places were all very real...years ago.

Pretty sure These Needles just played at The Facement or whatever not too long ago right? Hepatitis X played the Danger House or whatever last year after the HB flooded. Reason I ask is I don't have anywhere to book a few shows now. Like Nick said, anyone punk/diy shit going on? Highlyyyy doubt it.

Meaning of those those places don't exist as primary venues as of today or at all.. I went to the facement show and the danger house is my house...

Alright, so I guess I should thank Joe (Thanks again, Joe). He was trying to be helpful afterall. It's hard to detect sarcasm over the interwebz. I was hoping he was being sincere, but didn't know if he was being sarcastic or what? I know his band played The Facement recently, but those other places he listed I had never heard of or knew they weren't doing shows anymore.

I know DIY spots in Des Moines are super thin, so it sucks when the main one puts operation on hiatus. I think people (myself included) sorta start to take places like that for granted almost. People don't often think of how awesome it was for the people who live at those places to provide their home for pretty much any band that wants to play.

I hope another such spot emerges, but realize that is probably also selfish of me to hope for. Sounds like others are looking for a place to books shows too?

Last time I tried another venue option it turned into a bunch of whiners with their butts hurt. I will most likely not do anymore at my place. Too much shit went missing. I think you need to take a sarcasm class cuz you still don't get it...

quite a few people/bands have come to that conclusion.

to be honest and i LOVE des moines. people that go to shows dont seem to be all that interested in music. they seem to go more to
1. do something
2. act like theyre part of something
3. party
4. have a good time
none of these are a bad thing but a lot of out of town bands that come thru dont really enjoy it here. theyll go hundreds of miles past us for no money if the show is a blast.

and im not saying people should be more interactive socially or anything. most of the time im at shows i dont usually speak to people anyway and im usually paying attention to the bands even tho it looks like im bored, thats
