It's always been a shithole. Sure the campus area and the strip area of Coralville aren't bad but the rest is pretty low rent.

What about the historical district? What about the regular home owners? I've seen some pretty nice houses that remind me a lot of the south of Grand neighborhoods.

I've always thought of Iowa City as being nice and well off like the area around Grand, North and South of it. I know they've been having difficulty with socioeconomically marginalized peoples from places like Chicago moving there lately and as per usual destroying everything they touch. Other than that "shithole" isn't a word people generally associate with Iowa City.

Yeah, that's definitely a word people associate with Waterloo. I've only been through there once, I stopped at a Best Buy and a Taco Johns en route to Dubuque but I hear parts of it are pretty shitty. I saw this summer they had over 10 shootings (I think only one killed though) in the span of a month or two over there.

i like waterloo better than iowa city.. iowa city has better views depending where youre looking. theyre both better than ames
