Is this gonna be over in Riverview Park (I assume) or are they actually holding it in that newly laid gravel lot across from the HB? Either way...sounds lame and will be a sure cop magnet.

Rendezvous on Riverview Concerts 2009

Time: 4:30 - 8 p,m,
Admission: Free

Friday Jun 5, 2009, ........Gimikk

Friday June 12th, ............Brother Trucker

Friday June 19th, ............35 South

Friday June 26th, ............The Blue Band

Friday July 3rd, ................Spam...and...A FIREWORKS DISPLAY!

Band schedule is as follows:
June 5th ....Gimikk

Forty hours a week Gimikk is a group of blue collar, working class heroes with families and bills to pay. Perhaps this explains their appeal. When you punch your card at the end of the day, a cold bottle of brew in your hand or a backyard barbeque combined with Gimikk somehow just feels right. Soon you will find yourself at the front of the stage, singing along to the straight-up Rock & Roll that drives the heart of the Midwest.

June 12th.... Brother Trucker

Des Moines rock band, Brother Trucker, is led by singer/songwriter Andy Fleming, whose songs pay homage to the underpaid, the under-loved, the unemployed and the disconnected. Fleming's vocals and rhythm guitar are accompanied by Mike Fitzpatrick on lead, Matt Winegardner on drums and Lyle Kevin Hogue on bass. The band's sound is appropriately and unapologetically Iowan, Fleming and Fitzpatrick said, mixing blues, country and "meat-and-potatoes rock," to use Fleming's words.

June 19th .... 35 South

35 South, based in Des Moines, was formed to establish a strong “Southern Rock/Texas Blues” presence in the central Iowa area. Lead singer BoCletus was raised in the Carolinas and brings some good ole’ red neck home cooked vocals that’ll make you think Mr. Van Zant himself jumped outa the grave. All five members are seasoned musicians who have honed their chops in various rock and blues acts.

June 26th.... The Blue Band

2009 finds Bob Dorr &The Blue Band celebrating their 28th anniversary. Beginning June 10, 1981, the band has averaged playing around 100 dates a year for its 28 year existence, resulting in a multi generational, dedicated fan base, and making them one of Iowa’s most revered, storied, and requested bands. The Blue Band is a 5-7 piece group whose sound can only be described as The blues/soul/rockabilly/reggae/creole/rhythm Band! The band can play nearly three hours of original music or another three hours of popular covers, done in Blue Band fashion. A typical night mixes originals and covers plus a few requests.

July 3rd.... SPAM

This all girl band is one of Des Moines best kept secrets. They play mostly 50 & 60’s music and will leave you wanting more. A must see band.

Thank you!

Ed Linebach
