that's my awesome stoner metal thread on the mediafirebomb board. i posted the first eight sabbath albums on page four, and i've got some pentagram on there too. witchfinder general has some killer riffs, but the vocals take some getting used to. i also suggest checking out dust - hard attack, got marky (ramone) bell on drums.
also check out church of misery, further proof that japan does everything better.

this blog has some killer stuff too.
check out hawgjaw, 13, grief, and corrupted.

actually, no...he did not specify....he said he was digging certain riffs of sabbath songs......which lead me into a stoner rock/metal mindset...which is not completely whack...
"Like most subgenres of music, the origins of stoner rock are hard to trace and pinpoint. Nevertheless, stoner rock has its known progenitors and signature songs that helped shape the genre. British heavy metal band Black Sabbath and American heavy metal/acid rock band Blue Cheer hold a significant place in the evolution of stoner rock."
and obviously pentagram is noted as one of the pioneers of doom metal...which is why i put spirt caravan(which has doods from pentagram in it) on the list....semi-similar...

...pentagram is one of my favorite bands...

anyways...as i stated, it was a start....i've got manya more bands i could bring up...but suggesting a couple stoner bands and another doom band could at least lead him in a direction to find what he is truely looking for...agreed?

stoner rock , doom rock is different than sabbath riffiness. sabbath had/has actual riffs/songs. where stoner rock is way more repetitive cause theyre"stoned". doom rock is typically riff oriented but sloooWed down. stoner rock usually has more DRONE. as in holding notes until a speaker cabinet would vibrate at a frequency it wasnt designed to hold. hence downtuning. ... but thats my opinion.

i posted grief cause the first couple of albums i listened to at a buddies house when he was at work i played them on 45 cause thats what his record player was set at. i was under the "influence" and i couldnt believe how much they ripped off sabbath. so of course after i corrected myself i went back and listened to sabbath on 45. that was (to quote tj) an "amazing" day.
