Yup Lanny is there every Friday and KungFu on Sundays.

I don't know it's a toss up. GTs is OK but I always feel like I'm going to bump into someone. KungFu is better laid out and they have the covered patio. Lately one of my favorites is Cooney's. The Heman Woman Haters Club was meeting up there for a while on Mondays but we've all been too broke or too busy.

i'd say gts or kung fu.

I assume you're talking about Cooney's in Beaverdale? That bar does rule. Awesome whiskey selection and decent beers on tap. Bunch of 'ol drunk Catholics in there most of the time it seems. Defintinely a bar I'll stop in at from time to time if I am ever in the neighborhood.

i got a related question- can somebody name me a bar that has no windows, tvs or a jukebox? in dsm, please

Yup and the pints are still the cheapest in town. We used to go there every Sunday night back in the day cause everything else was closed except the sports bars. I think we are the reason they don't sell car bombs or Jagermeister. All hail the Guinness Summer of 97.

I'm a bar whore so I don't think I have one. If I did would say:

Kung Fu - close, cheap, good people, always characters on a saturday afternoon.

Vaudeville Mews back bar - seasonal, cheap drinks 24/7 ftw, good dudes, comedy, hot drunken skanks to spit at, bro dudes to shove

Club 2000- lol I said it. Southside trash at its finest.

Locust Tap - just only started frequenting regularly. Reminds of Lucky's. The yuppies, suck though.

Locust Tap was pretty cool before the Yuppie infiltration. They used to sell High Life and PBR by the quart for $3. I went in there about two weeks ago and ordered a quart of MHL and they looked at me like I was a big fat retard.

i'd have to say my favorites at the moment are The Hull and Fong's.

Went to the Underground for the first time tonight. Cool place. The Wednesday night jam is alotta fun. I just wish they'd have some cheaper beer available, but I'd still go back.

Something about the men's bathroom made me want to snort lines off the top of the urinal.

When I lived in DSM I rarely went to the bars I actually liked because my friends never wanted to leave the suburbs.

So while GTs or The Lift were my favorites, you could usually find me posted up at the motherfuckin' VALLEY WEST PUB.

This is how it used to be for me as well. I always seemed to spend most of my time with my friends at The Pub in Waukee, which sucked hard.

Now I rarely go to bars, but if I do, it is usually something close to home like O'Malley's on NE 14th - it's a local COP bar.

Favorite bar in Des Moines, or anywhere EVER, was definitely the WALNUT TAP when the dudes owned it. And it failed miserably. Des Moines people... I dunno put something sweet and awesome in front of them and they'll just say THAT'S STOOPIT, WHERE'S THE CHEETOS.

Not everybody though. No offense to cheetos.

i dont think theres a single bar in des moines in which i feel fully comfortable. other people are hell.
