Pretty sure you're right Sam, after 2 or 3 songs that advertisement thing pops up where it says 'Click to continue listening to music.'

Well acually now what you can do apparently is put 5 players on your page have them pre muted so every time someone goes to your page lets say you have them listen to 4 songs right? thats 20 plays there.

20 plays x 100 people? thats 2000 right there.

plus post bulltins doing the same...or have other ppl posting bullitins. yup.

i'm not saying their doing this but that was a bit fishy to me...

Wait a minute, do people seriously care so much about the number of plays they get on myspace that they would waste their time on stupid shit like that? Holy shit, that is ridiculous if that really happens.

Labels care about it now...thats why half these half ass no tallent bands are signed....

To them there checkin numbers (profile views and plays) cause kids don't give a shit if the band sucks live as long as they can rock that album on their IPOD and the kids will still buy it or download it and come out to shows...now labels are (in the contracts) having it so that you have to give about 15% per shirt sale if not more.

Its getting insane...all a label is is basically a bank, they loan you the money to press your product (cd) and promote the company (band) and get their share + more back.

Sucks.

i think it's sweet that they got on trustkill and don't have to get legit jobs. they make enough doing what they want to be doing. wouldn't YOU want to tour all the time, have someone put out your records, and make a decent living off it? no offense to anyone on the board, but it just sounds like jealousy. they're doing really well, and i say good for them. don't we have something more productive to talk about than bitching about myspace plays? ...although, i AM keeping in mind that this is the 515 crew board. hahaha.

No ones worried about what there doing keith lol its just everyone saying what they think about the music, which being this is an online board and not in person its so much easier to do hahah

And i knew someone would comment on "how its nothing new" on thats what labels are after, but the difference is that now instead of just bullshit cock rock they find in some dive bar on a Wednesday night because they see "hmm, this bands got an image" there basing it off "wow this bands got a rad myspace, sweet hair and 100k plays" and its just like wow...myspace is now literally how bands are huge. i cant complain i've meet a lot of friends and contacts helped booked tours over it but still its just now based on that entirely now.

i understand that, but still, it's been happening for at least 5 years now. look at all the fashion grind bands that popped up a couple years ago or even all the mosh metal bands before then. i would still consider the content of their myspace as a sort of image.

i agree with just about everything you are saying max. There is definitely a formula to this shit. I mean, there has always been a formula, but the latest wave is SOO easy to dissect.

1. create a band
2. make a myspace
3. add all of the devil wears prada's friends
4. record 3 or 4 songs, one of which being a hardcore rendition of some top 40 radio rap song.
5. be attractive
6. have "good" merch (foil, using the word fuck, block lettering, clever abbreviation)
7. be on the "top friends" of other hyped bands

by the time these bands release their first cd they are either over or will be within 8 months. There is no career in being in a band like the above mentioned. no such thing as a hyped 2nd release.

This show was pretty sweet. All of the bands were good (I didn't see Stand United though) and I ended up liking For The Fallen Dreams more than I thought I was going to. When I saw their name the only thing I could think of was that Grinwire/Cassandra Disease lyric "When I dream a dream I dream when I put yo' hand up on my hip when I dip you dip we dip" or whatever the fuck it was. This show was the kind of music I wouldn't normally listen to on my own but like seeing live (although I do like the "We Are A Weapon" album)

The new TPTD material sounded pretty good.

Anyways, pet peeves: The lead singer of TPTD was wearing suspenders with a belt. This phenomena is known as "belts and braces" in the skinhead world. Unless you really need some heavy duty pants support, pick one or the other.

I expected to see some drinking at the show and of course there was. What I didn't expect was the entire balcony smelling like weed and a bunch of dudes (presumably) smoking weed in the bathroom. Nice.

how did i not see you there?

i loved this show. actually wish i didn't have to work last night, would've loved to have been in the crowd for this one.

for the fallen dreams were pretty rad.

tptd was so bitchin, hope their tour goes well.

other bathroom antics: a friend's date accidentally walked into the men's room not even 20 minutes into the show and witnessed a scene quickie.
