SC019 The Tanks - keep breaking down CD
Limited Edition CD w/ hand screened covers - covers come in a variety of colors
Scenester Credentials is very pleased to announce our next release, SC019 The Tanks – Keep Breaking Down, set to be released on November 1st. This will be the band’s second full-length release, punctuated by a vast sonic improvement over their debut Floodwater Records release, Summon Creature. Keep Breaking Down, recorded by Luke Tweedy at Flat Black Studios (William Elliott Whitmore, ft(the Shadow Government), The Horde, STNNG, Jenny Hoyston, etc.) earlier in 2008, features a collection of songs dead-set on producing equal parts smirks and shouts. Keep Breaking Down, is released as a LP+CD combo – limited to 500 – and as a CD with hand-screened packaging (what you are buying right now!) – limited to 500 – with art by Ryan Garbes (Raccoo-oo-oon, Wet Hair, Hugs) for both the screened and printed covers! The band is currently booking a Midwest/East Coast tour starting in November. Be sure to check out their MySpace for dates and other up-to-date information.
Like a thunderous roar, The Tanks have been leveling venues around the US with their brand of gleeful roar since 2005. The Tanks feature an uncompromised blend of crushing sounds, limitless energy, and childishly defiant persona, led by the death-by-riff, face-smashing bass of Adam Luksetich (Nethervoid), the exasperated bleat and laugh-‘til-you-cry lyrics of Kevin Koppes, and the drum fury of Joe "The Madman" Ross (Weather is Happening, Swing by Seven). The Tanks are bar-none one of the best live bands we've ever had the pleasure of barely walking away from. In terms of sound, we think they closely resemble The Jesus Lizard and Rapeman aping Motley Crue’s Too Fast For Love. Elements of Lighting Bolt, Mission of Burma, The Fall, DFA1979, and Sleep are all present. Keep Breaking Down is fun, catchy, and seriously fucking rocking.
In their own words, "Starts in a shed, continued in a store, moved to an apartment, landed in a basement, wound up at the Hall Mall. Lost a drummer, found a drummer, lost a drummer, found a drummer. Singer periodically goes ‘out of town.’ Bass player works two jobs, plays in three bands, and is easily the most ‘together’ person in the group. Drummer lives in Kansas and doesn't own a phone. We're small, efficient, loud, and polite. And we'll play wherever you live if you set up a show. Just give it time.”
