The battle of worst comedies on TV ever.


Tough call.

Mind of Mencia probably has more memorable moments. I can watch Mad TV without cracking a smile, but Mind of Mencia MIGHT get the slightest guffaw out of me once or twice per episode.

Mad TV doesn't have the same kind of lows as Mind of Mencia and shockingly seems a little more high brow or at least not as stupid as Mind of Mencia. The humor (yeah, I know I'm using this term a liberally right now) is a little more varied and slightly less predictable.

Both shows fall extremely short of the shows they're trying to jock (SNL and Chappelle, respectively) and have terrible delivery. One show appeals (or "appealed") to 14 year olds without anything to do on a Saturday night and the other has angry white males with incomes below $30,000 and IQ's below 90 as the target audience.

Very few things in the world of television piss me off more than falling asleep with Comedy Central on and waking up during Mad TV re-runs. I think waking up during a Mind of Mencia re-run might piss me off a little more though.


So the question is which show is worse?

Mind of Mencia.


I think Mad TV knows it's not that funny and is intentionally bland. Mind of Mencia dares for greater things and thus falls further. Mad TV is just a nusiance on the TV viewing public, Mind of Mencia is an insult to anyone with an IQ of over 80.

no cable for 4 years, but i have always hated Mad TV. really low brow. like a neanderthal jutting way over both eyes brow. it seems like the Mad TV set would just be covered with slime and dust. it's hard to get across my feeling for that show.

Dude, no show will ever be worse than Mind of Mencia. I'm so glad this was one of the choices. Carlos Mencia may be one of the worst humans alive.

Wasn't "Half Hour News Hour" or something like that? I only saw one episode, not funny...and believe me, I really wanted it to be.

If I'm flipping channels and I even see Carlos Mencia, my blood pressure goes up. He's so completely not funny. Him and Frank Caliendo are running neck and neck for the biggest attrocity of a comedy gone wrong. I only hope that Carlos meets his maker by a big mentally challenged guy that beats him just for impersonating his people poorly.

MadTV has moved the funny needle a couple times over it's LONG run. Mencia is just bad.
