Best Intro Guitar Riffs.

Post by El Rhino » Wed Aug 27, 2008 8:45 am

...Let's discuss them. My list will be mainly punk, don't really care about much else this morning.

- Anti Nowhere League "Streets of London" with the "London Bridges" intro.

- Bad Religion "Recipe For Hate" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFiqmppi ... re=related

- Bound For Glory "Over The Top". Lots of noodling then sweet guitar riff.

- Cocksparrer "East End Girl". Nothing special, just sounds kind of cool.

Fugazi's "Bed for the Scraping"

This song doesn't have much of an intro but the guitar gets me going.

Slayer - Necropheliac, sweet little solo.
Modern Life is War - By the Sea, would make a great black metal riff.
Earth Crisis - Firestorm, fucking DUH.
Graves at Sea - Red Monarch, sluuuudge.
His Hero Is Gone - Like Weeds, sounds like a swarm of bees.

And then we have...
Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls
Metallica - Fade to Black
Metallica - The Call of Ktulu
Metallica - Battery
Metallica - Blackened
Metallica - To Live Is To Die

To Live is To Die into Dyer's Eve is always really scary if you have the music turned up way loud.

I jammed Damaged yesterday, and was loving that slow rising bass/drums intro to "No More." That band was sooo good.

My list would be:

AC/DC - pretty much anything but specifically Hells Bells, Dirty Deeds, Shoot to Thrill, Gimme a Bullet
At the Drive-In - Napoleon Solo
Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Converge - The Saddest Day
Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
Bad Religion - American Jesus
Beatles - Helter Skelter
Replacements - Bastards of Young
Jesus Lizard - Mouthbreather

The Version on Everything Went Black is better. I can't remember if they released it anywhere else. It is a lot longer. There's this documentry called Battle of the Cuckoo Nest. There is this scene where it flashes back and forth to the beat of the song between Frankenstien clips and these kids dancing and going fucken nuts. It fit so well.
