Brian called me today and told me that they picked up a huge set of dates on the East Coast and are changing the route of the whole tour.
So the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids shows will be rescheduled for the Spt or Oct.
The band said to tell everyone sorry and they look forward to see you all in the fall.

Fact: Most of your shows are bands that there is really no demand for.
Sorry, Murphy's Law got offer a bunch of money to play a show with Clutch in Alantic City.
They'll be here in the fall. In the meanwhile I will just sit back and pump my son full of aids.

Now the child has a problem with Bad Religion. What they are too mainstream for your sausagecore lifestyle? .

Who said I was bitter? In fact, due to DuBay's closing, this gives me more time to come up with a venue or pass the show on to someone else.
Also, I'm happy to see a band that I love and people that I respect get a chance to make some money and be exposed to a new crowd.

The place put a bad taste in my mouth the last time I dealt with them. The other thing is it's up in the air if it will in fact be there in September. This is a big booze selling night. I know there will be nothing to make off the door and I feel less excited to put effort into a show that is going to make money for someone that ripped me off. It's a toss up, I want the show to happen and the bands to play but I would rather have the money aka bar sells, go into the pocket of someone I respect. It's one thing to break even or loss a little if you care for the people running the venue and it's another if you don't. The VM is what it is and I'm sorry and I gave them a chance and they shit on me. Regardless of what people have experienced down there, it's all I have to go on and if they are going to shit on me, then chances are I'm not the only one they have.
Until I know the date, I'm not going to commit to a venue.

Fact: Selling booze is more important than music.
I mean, honestly...I saw this coming from a mile away. Who wants to ride with me to Chicago to see H20?

You're right, Thom. I agree 100%.

except in this case, the promoter is putting up the money for the band and is not seeing any of the bar money. at least as i understand it.

You know they would have been late either way, This time instead of being 2 hours late, they are going to be 2 months late.

I realize that selling drinks is a part of shows. If bars didn't sell drinks, they wouldn't do shows. I guess I just wish it was not that way.

Until everyone is willing to pay $4 for sodas and waters and drink about 10 of them, I'm afraid so. If you want a situation where a majority of the door goes into the bands' pockets, the club has to make money off something other then the door. Someone has to pay the rent. See in the past I worked with club owners that I believed in, that were part of the scene and were trying to make a difference and hoped to put food on their own table. They are all gone and we seem left with clubs own by outsiders that are more interested with what is on their table then what difference they are making. Some are more that way then others but they still have both their hands in the pockets of the bands, the scene and the promoters and could give two shits about where the scene is going or weather it exist. Call it bitter or call it me calling it as I see it.
