OK, this story isn't that interesting, but all I can think of is that scene where Steve Zissou goes nuts and starts shooting at the pirates crazily. Think of that scene and laugh. If you don't think it's funny you probably smoke cigarettes, and should just go puff on a cancer stick.




PARIS, France (AP) -- Pirates seized control of a French cruise ship Friday off the coast of Somalia, France's Foreign Ministry said.

A ministry official said details about the attack were scarce, and it was not clear how many crew members were on board the ship or if there were any passengers.

The ship is in the high seas in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia in the Indian Ocean.

The official declined to identify the vessel or its owner.

The ministry has set up a crisis center to deal with the situation, said the official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Pirates seized more than two dozen ships off the Somali coast last year.

The U.S. Navy has led international patrols to try to combat piracy in the region. Last year, the guided missile destroyer USS Porter opened fire to destroy pirate skiffs tied to a Japanese tanker.

Wracked by more than a decade of violence and anarchy, Somalia does not have its own navy and a transitional government formed in 2004 with U.N. help has struggled to assert control.

The International Maritime Bureau, which tracks piracy, said in its annual report earlier this year that global pirate attacks rose by 10 percent in 2007, marking the first increase in three years.

The French get a rep for being pussies, but if it weren't for them kicking the shit out of the A-rabs 1000+ years ago, the world would be an extremely different place right now. They also did a good job of fucking up the Mexicans in the 1800's.

France has been dealt a bad hand as far as who they've had to fight wars with in recent history, getting Germany twice. Not a country in the world, except maybe the US could've taken them on one-on-one, not even Russia, France or England. Their smaller guerilla wars were met with pretty much the same sort of results as the ones we've fought.


Put France up against Portugal, Poland, Spain, Italy or pretty much anyone else in Europe historically who's not Germany, the UK or Russia and you're going to see a French victory.

France vs. Turkey or France vs. Iran. Would like to see that one.

The Swedes are ok, I guess. While they're a little too tall for my book and have some strange culinary traditions, they're not really bothering anyone up there.
