hi, why don't you just upload it into protools/sibelius/live/sonar whatever you have, and then get rid of the vocal track? Waaaaaaaay easier than having somebody record a whole new version.

What you are saying is impossible... although melodyne has supposedly created some sort of new program that allows you to single out the instruments. I have not checked it out yet though.

Get ahold of Minor Threat or whoever might have their masters and have them get you a mix with no vocals.

Are you guys serious? I do this in Sonar 7 PE all the time. You can even do it in FREE versions of adobe audition from what I understand. It is a STANDARD function in all DAWs.
Fuckin' retards, no wonder all your guys recordings suck complete and total ass. Better start hittin' that manual pretty hard.

so do these programs single out the frequency of the human voice or something? I know i've seen something that can remove vocals or single out guitar parts or something like that.
Varg, have you heard any of their albums? Please post some of your stellar recordings.

What he is talking about is probably just a preset on sonar that removes the vocals. I have seen it in cool edit.. it however does not actually remove all of the vocals.. and damages everything else in that frequency range as well. Which seemingly would be bad to do to a rock recording with the guitars and such.
there is also another way to create instrumentals or accapellas by inverting the wavs to cancel out sounds. But, for make an instrumental, you would need the accapella, and it would have to be lined up perfectly.. or it creates a lot of problems.

I once bought a tapedeck converter that did exactly this though it wasn't supposed to. I should have held onto it.

I told joe to tell you that I would be happy to record bass and guitar tracks for this. maybe the message didn't get relayed...
either way, I'd be stoked to do it, minor threat songs were the first I learned when I started playing guitar.
