I would say the six best unplugged shows I have seen on video or heard......

1)Warren Zevon- Learning to Flinch
2)Tesla- their own taped performance/cd, the band that started this whole unplugged business, at least in the mainstream.
3)Kiss - mtv unplugged
4)Alice In Chains -mtv unplugged
5)Nirvana - mtv unplugged
6)Judas Priest- unplugged on vh1

nirvana unplugged is really cool. mostly cuz of the covers they do.

i heard the meat puppets were able to buy a house or something just from the royalties off that album.

GG Allin , on the reals, his accoustic shit wasn't that bad.
Nirvana=never good, ever
I second Jay-Z and Rob
Also, I heard there could be some unplugged shows at a fancy local eatery soon.

Alice In Chains did the best Unplugged, in my opinion. I gotta get that Jay-Z one as well, I remember "Song Cry" being the shit.

Bullshit. "Unplugged" was brilliant, as was some of their other stuff. While not being 100% up my alley and pretty much being a band where the fans ruin it, Nirvana had some kick-ass music. "Unplugged" will rightfully go down as one of the best rock albums ever.

What were all the covers from "Unplugged"? All I know is the Meat Puppets one. I think the first time I heard that I thought they said "black folks" instead of "bad folks".

I've never heard Rob's accoustic material, but I can only imagine what's like.

"Where Did You Sleep Last Night" is a Leadbelly song.

"The Man Who Sold the World" is a David Bowie song.

The reason I finally broke down and lost my old opinions on Nirvana, was after hearing that unplugged release, especially the covers!

The bowie cover is amazing.

Anything having anything to do with David Bowie follows a general rule of being amazing for one reason or another.

I was just watching this flavor of Bowie....

the in the pines/where did you sleep last night, is a cover of leadbellys version of a traditional song by far my favorite of that "unplugged".

its good. its pure Rob. alot like when he firsts wakes up in the morning, just insanely on fire. and that damn smirk he gets when you look at him and point at a guitar. its beautiful.

It is Queen, but the most famous version of it is a live track with Bowie. Very good, too. A close second is Wyclef's "Rah mix" or whatever

i'm pretty sure the original recorded version had Bowie on it as well. wikipedia agrees with me. i know i've heard a non-live version on several occasions and don't remember ever hearing it without Bowie

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Under_Pressure

i know wikipedia isn't always accurate, but that's a lot of information to be fabricated.

but that's all beside the point, the point is that the said cover is an absolute gut-wrenching travesty.

Lyrics
Mm ba ba de
Um bum ba de
Um bu bu bum da de
Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure that brings a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets
Um ba ba be
Um ba ba be
De day da
Ee day da - that's okay
It's the terror of knowing
What the world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people people on streets
Day day de mm hm
Da da da ba ba
Okay
Chippin' around - kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
Ee do ba be
Ee da ba ba ba
Um bo bo
Be lap
People on streets - ee da de da de
People on streets - ee da de da de da de da
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher higher high
Pressure on people people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why - why - why?
Love love love love love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're breaking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love give love give love give love
give love give love give love give love give love
'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the (People on streets) edge of the night
And loves (People on streets) dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure

Wasn't aware. Good to know. And I agree with the last statement (from His Manjesty). I kinda hate both those bands. Except maybe for the Shark Bars song.

Bowie is sweet most of the time. Low is a sweet album, and so is Heroes, which has Robert Fripp kickin out the guit licks.

I saw that video when it debuted at the Live Aid show in 1984. I love both the Stones and David Bowie, but this video is funny as hell. It was cool to act gay in the 80's. The gayer you acted, the more pussy you got back then.

nirvana unplugged is so fucking good, it's always been one of my favorite albums. this whole discussion has made me get it onto itunes and listen to it.

i got into nirvana way back in 5th grade. i remember going to little league practice and talking to some kid about this new tape i got and how awesome it was, nirvana "nevermind." then my older sister stole it and took it to arizona.

i agree, my favorites have always been th following

Nirvana(duh)
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Alice In Chains

in fact, i have a vhs tape that i taped off mtv unplugged when it used to be on every sunday night of all those bands unplugged performances, i used to watch it constantly. brings me way back. in fact, all these posts about nirvana lately make me miss being a pre-teen, everything was so cool back then. those were the times that it was "uncool" to have ripped up old jeans that now cost about $80 to buy brand new pre-ripped from american eagle. i believe the term they used to call me was "skerve". i once remember my 7th grade pe teacher at stilwell asking me one time "do you enjoy dressing like a homeless person?" i told him to bite me.

my only gripe about when nirvana unplugged aired on mtv is every time they always left out the song "oh me" which was my favorite song on the album. they have unplugged's on vh1 classics on sunday nights sometimes. i want to buy the nirvana unplugged dvd, does anyone have this?
