Receiver & Turntable Difficulties

I own an Ion iTTUSB turntable and I recently got a Sony STR-DE197 receiver. My problem is that the turntable is really quiet when it's hooked up to the receiver. It doesn't matter which slot I hook it up to (CD or Video 1) it doesn't get any louder. Does any one know what I can do to get my tunes louder?

Seriously? My old receiver had phono, but the new one doesn't. I thought it wouldn't matter.

you could also buy a turntable preamp, i've been looking at them online for between $30-40. they go between the turntable and reciever. or you could find a turntable with a built in preamp, they usually have a speaker built in and sound like shit. and yes, the requiem show was fucking great. a sorely missed band, they had at least one great record left in them. quitters...
