I think we're talking about the people that only come out for big metal acts and only big metal acts.

i was upstairs studying for a test, but i watched you guys from the balcony. i HAD to come downstairs to see chud though. that was a great surprise. all bands did a good job. didn't see the first band.

Hi.
As a member of colonizer, I could care less if you watched our band. Its boring to play when no one watches you, but I'm not about to cry or whine about it in a public forum.
That being said, there are a lot of kooks who turn out for big metal acts aren't there?
Did anyone go see Vader when they played mary's? There were TONS of unfamiliar faces there, that I hadn't seen before or since.
people just don't care about locals, FACT.

i was at work. otherwise, i would have been there.
to be fair, does anyone make a conscious effort to attract people outside this forum and, say, myspace?
Even today, I can't see a car run a red light without instantly having an image flash into my head of a man's erect penis, penetrating a watermelon.

I tell people I know, that I don't usually see at shows. That's about it. I've seen others hand out fliers to randoms on the street. Elliot and I had and interesting conversation the other day about how to revitalize attendance at shows...I know I used to always check the bulletin board at java joes, before I knew everyone(but even that only does so much). If people have solid/constructive ideas, I'd be willing to hear them!

you can always buy a bullhorn and drive around des moines yelling at people about the show. that could work.

whats wrong with that? i dont usually go to shows that i dont know any of the bands. occassionally i will. if somebody sets it up that usually does solid shows. but theres alot of shows i dont go to.
some of those "metal" dudes are pretty sweet. and i wouldnt call skeletonwitch a big metal act, id call them more of a cover type band. yeah i went to see fetus and colonizer. chud was a bonus.

Knowing high school kids that are willing to hang flyers around schools and tell thier friends. Its a goldmine. Not that I know any high school kids anymore mind you - nor do I condone forming relationships with any high schooler, unless say you solicite on myspace and they answer you.....errr even then that a lil grey.

I hand out fliers to kids when I'm out and about and have stacks of fliers in my hands. I got a few young long hairs pumped on the Black Mark shows about a week ago when I gave them fliers at ZZZ. Now... if they actually show up, that'd be something else.

i think high schools are a good place to hit. and guitar shops too. i know Crazyhorse has a board for fliers, maybe others do too? i know that before i moved to des moines, when i lived out in bondurant, i found out about shows from boards at guitar shops.

what if we randomly gave away the fake titties at the haunted basement. not at every show, just whenever. i know it sounds like a cheap gimmick, but i'd definitely go to more shows if i knew i could win some rubber titties.
