Tobacco - Fucked Up Friends
Tobacco is the frontman of Black Moth Super Rainbow, and his solo stuff sounds basically the same as BMSR but on better drugs. Analog-electro psychedelic music.

Lost Sounds - Black Wave
Garage-punk with synths, very noisy, very awesome. Jay Reatard was in this band.

Department of Eagles - In Ear Park
Heavily layered melodic pop. Ethereal vocals. This was my favorite record of 2008.

Sparks - Propaganda
Early 70's power pop. Unlike most classic rock groups, these guys do not take themselves seriously at all. Lots of energy and over-the-top falsetto vocals with clever lyrics. So good and ahead of their time that they were only really appreciated in the UK. One of my all-time favorite records.

Jay Reatard - Singles 06-07
Straightforward Ramones-style pop punk. Lo-fi and catchy. I wish this dude was putting out records when I was a teenager.

Starfucker - Starfucker
Dance-y synth pop. I saw these guys a few weeks ago, lots of fun. Everyone I've turned on to this band has become obsessed.

Sabrepulse - Turbo City
Righteous 8-bit instrumental throwdowns to kill bosses to.

Steel Nation / Crucified Split. Steel Nation dropped their singer so the bass and guitar players are doing vocals, Biohazard style.
Crucified reminds me of Ringworm, vocalist is almost dead on. Check this shit out.

that sparks record is so fucking great.
propaganda, kimono my house and angst in my pants are all pretty essential…hilarious lyrics, great songwriting. amazing that they're still around since their best shit was in the 70s.

Finally got around to backing up the majority of the music I have to my computer the last couple of weeks and thought I'd post a couple things.
First one is The Mukilteo Fairies, queercore from Olympia WA:
The Mukilteo Fairies - Special Rites 7"
Second is The Bristles, street punk from New Jersey:
The Bristles - Bristle Youth 7"

Punch - "Punch"
Best Hardcore album of '09 for sure.
San Francisco’s PUNCH return! This is about as good as it gets - insightful lyrics, blistering fastcore mixed with solid hardcore - with some heavy-ass breakdowns that will most definitely drop the hammers of justice. 16 songs of punishing hardcore done with heart. This IS Bay Area Hardcore.
