Ben - I grew up in the church, my parents have been youth ministers since I was two and have gone on brief stints as missionaries. They practice the "enlightened" kind of christianity that bands like Zao and Norma Jean do. Which, needless to say, is why I am not a christian, and worship Satan. That said, I feel it is extremely wrong to judge a person on their theology, and one of my best friends has just been ordained. A person can believe in Jesus Christ as their savior, and still be an intelligent, in-touch, decent person who believes in "hardcore" or "punkrock" ideals.
It's just that christianity as a whole has ruined itself for people like us over the last 1500 years. It has set itself up as a power structure, which is something religions should never do (Jihad, anyone?). We, espcially, living in a country founded by, and still run by, puritans, feel the wrath of the evil christian power structure, ie boobies not being allowed on TV.
I don't know what my point is really except this:
Organized religion: bad
Punkrock ideology: good
Spirituality: good
Drawing ones own conclusions (even if they included JHVH and Jesus): good
Or:
Would you say that Muslims arent allowed to be hardcore?
Or Hindus?
Or Scientologists?
Of course scientologists cant be Hardcore, they're rich. And fuck rich people.
Blah blah blah blah.

Tsalbert the sheepish Lion.
In response to that poser, I would say yes, a Muslim is totally accepted in hardcore.
But a Muslim who subjegates his wife/girlfriend... no.
Thats why Ben said conservative ideas do not have a place in hardcore.
I would amend that statement to read "conservative ideas are highly suspect in hardcore." As all of us who know Ben know, he is a subjective open-minded dude, if he met a person in hardcore who strictly adhered to old testament lawism, he would more than likely first feel them out, and if/when they said something idiotic like "gays are an abomination", he would then work to send them packing.
In my opinion, Ben has every right to speak of conservative views because he associates himself with edge, an ideology some would call conservative, me included. Ben however is so open-minded that he parties hard with stoners and drunkards, even if he does throw sugar bags at obvious stoners. He lives by example, and takes to task those who think and act like fucking jackoffs.
I on the other hand, don't give a fuck, and openly proclaim that Republicans have no place in punk or hardcore. Why? Because you will never hear a punk/hardcore band openly jizz over flat tax. And hardcore bands would look fucking shitty stupid with those blue shirt, white collar, red/yellow tie schemes. Fuck all that noise.

No shit, there is nothing hardcore about Omaha.
hahahahhha
System Failure
Analog
Paria
Bullet From The Blue
After*Forever (sort of...)
Those all are/were some of the bigger bands in Omaha too.
Ask Brandon for the rest of them I know he's reading this....

none of those bands are what you'd call good. so youre still wrong. paria is the only one even halfway decent.
jeff, if you think bens so cool, then you get to slap him.

You guys don't have a clue about music, that's painfully obvious, so why do you even bother posting half-assed messages somewhat related to music? How many of you have ever even been in a band?

so because i dont like the bands you posted, that means i dont know anything about music. yep, youre an idiot. i have been in a band in nj. the band didnt last very long, not that that would possibly have anything to do with anything.

i believe to be a hardcore capital, the place needs to be a center for hardcore activity, lots of shows with lots of people showing up, lots of big time bands. none of that applies to omaha. i mean its better than some places but its all on a minor scale. nothing that could be "hardcore capital" material.

hahahahaha!!
you get stupider with each post!
i've been in quite a few bands, a variety of types. so don't try and pull that "i'm in a band, i'm the ultimate authority on music" bullshit.

Being in a band is hardly something that suggests you have musical knowledge/ability/talent. Regardless of that, I'm still certain there's a few "shit-talkers" here who havn't even had the whole "band experience". Any jackass can form/be in a band, just listen to the radio or go to a show in Ames/Des moines....so that's definetly the wrong angle to be arguing from.
The reason I am an authority on music is because I own you (all) in all aspects of music.

if being in a band isn't anything to base musical knowledge on, you probably shouldn't say things like this:
Varg wrote: How many of you have ever even been in a band?
going to a music school and learning about music does not mean that you have better taste in music or a better idea of what good music is. it just means that you go to a music school. big fucking deal. i don't "own you" at defibrillation because i went to emt school.

Omaha = Bright Eyes
Bright Eyes = Pussiest pussy crap to ever be pussy-wussy and crappy.
Thus, Bright Eyes totally cancels out any hardcore band that would make Omaha the "Capitol of Hardcore" because Bright Eyes is that weak.

I said Christians, not republicans. Of course Republicans cant be hardcore. I prefer the broader term "punkrock" but whatever. Fuck Republicans. They arent hardcore OR punkrock. Sorry Mr Chaos, but you know me feelings on the subject.
Also: all those bands you listed, Mr Varg, suck. Suck suck crap crap pussy.

what about robots don't cry, caught in the fall, or eyes of verotika? nobody has mentioned those omaha bands yet. and they're all good ones.

I saw Eyes of Verotika and Caught in the Fall at the UAW. Which one has the guitar player? from the one band drumming for the other band? That kid was so-so on guitar and the first band was just ok, but when he played drums I almost lost my shit.
Case in point, midwest drummers fucking smoke like a motherfucker.
Joe Ross, Spencer, wool hat kid, Dan, JT, dude from My Lai, Nick Kelly, Ray, and dude from From the Wreckage. Johhny Cluney is breaking out on drums in our new band too, simple but tough as fuck. Aside from maybe parts of the west coast and the upper east, midwest might be the best drumming area in the country.

i'm not sure i understand the point of all this. am i supposed to feel sad, or angry, or hungry?
I wish i could get the light of the lord to help me through this, help me understand what it all means. and maybe while he's down here he can help me get semen stains out of my clothing. i mean come on, gods got mad cleaning skills yo. i mean why not take advantage of that shit.

Hey, Varginalips. Do you believe that the US should do what Ann Coulter says on your thingies? (I forget what they are called) I only ask because it seems like you have taken time to find pictures of her, which cancels out any attempt to be ironic.
Not that I?d make a judgment on someone?s opinion. No matter how fucked up and retarded said opinion is.
I like that it took her 2 days to come up with that little sound bite. I?m sure it is probably part of a bigger plan to take over the world, and I would honestly like to read it. So if you have a link to it, post it please.
In all seriousness do you believe that?s what we should do?

Norma Jean suck, Christianity is pretty much demented. Omaha is not the capital of HxC, Des Moines is. BMF! Also, Ann Coulter has a lot of childhood baggage which has turned her into the nazi that she currently is and straightedge, although kinda lame, is not religious (and therefore does not deny or confirm the existance of god, who is in fact, for all those wondering, dead.)
I think i covered everything. oh, and you do not seem to be a worthwhile person. by the way, im not a liberal, so if you intend to respond to me, just thought you should know.
Cheers!

Glynnsea, dude, you don?t have to be a liberal to see that Ann Coulter is a psychotic cunt.
