Aint found a way to kill me yet
Eyes burn with stinging sweat
Seems every path leads me to nowhere
Wife and kids household pet
Army green was no safe bet
The bullets scream to me from somewhere

Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he aint gonna die
No, no, no, ya know he aint gonna die

Walkin tall machine gun man
They spit on me in my home land
Gloria sent me pictures of my boy
Got my pills gainst mosquito death
My buddys breathin his dyin breath
Oh God please wont you help me make it through

Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he aint gonna die
No, no, no ya know he aint gonna die

YEP! now I'm going to have to call you a dip-shit rooster. Next month Die Mutts will have been playing "punk" shows for 8 1/2 years here in Des Moines. C.H.U.D, BMF, and alot of other bands even longer than that. You need to study your lesson. There has litterly been "punk" shows here in Des Moines longer than you've been alive. my first show here was in 95 or 96 at skate east watching Hunger Pains before they had a drummer & just used a drum machine. I listened and talked to alot of people since then and shows go back WAY farther than that.

I think he was trying to explain that he does lack knowledge about the Des Moines scene of the past, not that there was a never a punk scene, it's just he didn't know anything about it until around a year ago.

just before this argument goes down let us define the term over which animosity has seemingly arisen

Main Entry:
dip·shit
Pronunciation:
\ˈdip-ˌshit\
Function:
noun
Date:
1962

usually vulgar : a stupid or incompetent person
Tu vir nunc es, canis

The "dip-shit", Is just the way uneducated people with a low vocabulary "like myself" talk to others. so don't start crying about it acting like a pussy thinking I hate you or anything. I talk like that to everyone.

Yeah, that makes sense. Everybody else here has absolutely nothing but free time to do things like go to shows and/or keep tabs on the local scene...

Things around here are TOTALLY different music wise now compared to when I was in high school.

High school local music: wasted generation(duh), shiloh church, grubby ernie, last laugh, the whoremoans, chud(first versions), black market fetus, the hunger pains, tell leftovers, the horrorshow hoods, in loving memory, rue mourge, the horseshoe spatulas. I can't remember many more.

After high school: suburban scum, creepy kids, black market fetus, despensing of false halos, eatf, call me cool, the mutts, dws, that other really good ska-is band with Jesse and the girl singer, the other Johnston kids bands, rosevelt kids bands...

Then a bunch of nothing but creepy kids and suburban scum shows, bands joe milik was in before colonizer, and bands stevie and brian fetus were in until the last cc show. Oh, and through hard times somewhere in there.

Then what has been going on since the hb opened. I know I left bands out, but the music has ben really diverse, but pretty much al punk.

This is the last 12 or so years of DES moines from my perspective. Probably unnessesary.

I pull the Davo card! where is Davo when we need him? when it comes to Des Moines punk rock history Davo knows more than anyone I've ever talked to. he even had his own punk TV show, and has inspired me to do the same.

does anyone on here remember " The Recline Of Midwestern Civilaztion"?

do ya mean the decline of western civilization, the penelophe spheeris flick about early punk rock? because that was rad, though not quite as great as the heavy metal years sequel, but i think you're talking about davo's tv show…

No, Davo's show was "Recline of Midwestern Civilization". Best moment: Interview with Lanny. Oh man...
