Driving into it in the first place was super dumb. Driving a second car into it, after seeing what happened to the first one...well, that might have been the dumbest thing ever.

Most river levels are higher now or have been this week than they were in 93', and many have broken records. It's probably not a rumor.

We're gonna need another sitrep here.

Been busy. Also been up for like 30+ hours.

Latest info...

Fleur Dr.
20.6ft @ 3:30 pm, expected to crest @ 21.1ft on Jun 14

S.E. 6th
30.74ft @ 3:00pm, expected to crest @ 32ft On Jun 12th

2nd Ave.
24.25ft 3:00pm, expected to crest @ 28.4ft on Jun 12th

Any info regarding the levels can be found @ weather.gov and City cable Ch 7.

I read someone say this is worst than 93', not really..the levees were improved after that flood..some are federally certified..some not, But Stowe said he is confident in the levee system, but some places that were effected in 93' might see some damages.
Speaking of rumors..Earlier, me and a buddy walked up the street to look @ the rivers, The Tumeas said the Brooks Bros. were told that they will be evacuating our neighborhood tomorrow after they open up Saylorville..something like if the pneumatic temporary levee doesnt hold, a 6 foot wave will head towards DSM..so alot of people around here are packing up there stuff. But they are directing traffic thru SW 3rd and SW2nd and 1st& Jackson Ave.

Be back later with an update, I'm off work till Thurs day and I have business Downtown before they lock that shit down.

I went and got my haircut at Gomez's today and saw several bums heading South to get away from the river. He said there's been a lot of them coming through the area in the past day or so.

I work for the DNR. The latest email i received about the flooding came tonight (tuesday) at 8pm. Some of the things it said...

The situation remains precarious across much of Iowa. We are close to or exceeding 1993 flooding levels at several locations across the state. We have a 45% chance of severe weather hitting Iowa starting Wednesday night continuing into Thursday night. This includes hail, tornadoes and heavy rainfall. Fortunately, the storms are predicted to be fast moving, but there will be a series of storms. This means that river crest predictions will change.

A slow lowering of the bladder system at Saylorville will start tonight at about 10 pm and will last for approximately6 hours. It will be fully lowered by midnight and it won't be possible to raise it again for sometime. What this means is that on Wednesday, flow from the reservoir will be about 42,000 cfs and on Thursday it is projected to be 45,000 cfs. These levels are equivalent to 1993 levels. Crest in Des Moines is expected later Wednesday evening.

Iowa City is expected to receive record levels of flooding next week... then follows the Mississippi River a couple days later.

You can view NWS hydrographs for sites that have gauages at: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=dmx

Hopefully their solution this time wont be to build more levees and create larger tiles.

The river in front of my house (Iowa) came up about 5 feet Sunday, we were getting pretty worried, it got all the way up to our property line. Went back down the next day though. My neighbor and I were marking levels and measuring, it came up an average of 5 inches every hour and a half all day. They opened up Coralville more though, so I think I'm good, it would have to be severely high (something like 20 feet) to actually get to the house. It better not fuck the garden up.......

Is it just me but why hasn't there been any talk of waterworks or the water pipe under the river that caused the water outage in 93?

I guess I'm going to miss all the excitement cause I'm leaving for Disney World in the morning. Nothing beats a flood for good old fashion entertainment, as long as your on high ground.

There's going to be record flooding @ 2nd Ave. Its expected to crest at 32ft on Jun 15th. the previous record was 31.7ft.

The levee @ Water Works SHOULD hold. They built it up after 93' to over 30ft. The record in 93' was 26.7ft. Its supposed to crest @ 26ft on Friday.

S.E. 6th is what I'm worried about..I have a friend who lives right next to the levee off of Livingston(as well as Beav and I in the same neighborhood) and the river is expected to be close to record levels on Sunday. The previous record was 34.3ft, and supposed to crest on Sun. @ 33.9 feet.

Any flash flooding in the streets like what happened on court ave earlier during the lunch hour, and peoples houses flooding from there drains, is only water being backed up from an already over-burdened system. There is just TOO much water for it to handle.
