it doesnt really flow or build up to anything. maybe itll be different in context with the album but everyone in that band is better than that song. scott kelly included

fnally got it in the mail yesterday. its my favorite so far. i think they listen to mahavishnu orchestra a lot, which is ok with me. they sound very different. i really enjoy the flute and tamboura.

FLACs are useful as a starting point to convert to whatever you want, so you don't have to transcode. Since you start with a lossless source, you only lose what you want. I think it's stupid for bootleg/live recordings, but what do I know. I think lossless recordings of vinyl rips help reproduce the three dimensional sound of listening to a record, though.

I've never much cared for listening to Om or Sunn or a lot of those sorts of things on a computer or small sound system. Wax is pretty much the only way to go.

It seems to me that Joseph's stance on music is always "Meh" because every style of music, he listened to 15 years ago, and just because it is still being produced today makes it less good. Even Davo enjoys SOME new bands, even if they are rip off's of bands from the 80's/90's

With all of this said, I didn't listen to anything in this thread

I just dont care much for flac cause the files are so huge and they dont play in hardly anything. Atleast windows wise.

Anyone have the subpop 7"? Thats the only thing I dont have or heard.

i saw shrinebuilder in chicago on saturday. there was two shows, early and late, but i only went to the early one because the people i went with were pussies and "didnt want to stand for that long", even though each show was only 2 bands. rwake opened for the first one, yakuza the second.

rwake was pretty damn fucking good, never listened to them or seen them before. they were super solid and i didnt notice any slipups at all.

shrinebuilder had their up and downs. sometimes they were so together and tight they had the whole room in a trance. i was in the back on an upper level so i could see the whole crowd, and everyone would be nodding their heads in unicen (sp), which is rare because you know you usually see drunk ass dudes with no rhythm way off on their head nodding timing.

shrinebuilder definitely had a few slipups, nothing major at all, and they were all on dale crover. sometimes he would do a fill and finish to fast or to late and have to make the proper change real quick, it was like they didnt have enough time to fully rehearse or something, which i can understand since they are all busy as hell with other shit, not to mention living in different parts of the country. overall though, it was incredible to see that much talent on stage, those dudes are all veterans and they put off such heavy energy.

the day after i got on the forums at stonerrock and everyone was saying they played way tighter for the second show, which bums me out as i said before, i wish i couldve seen both sets.

anyways though, definitely a must see live. so much talent on one stage its unreal.

Rwake is badass.

Shrinebuilder's album sounds like a supergroup to me. I see the group as a novelty and not something that's going to have staying power.
