Hey Joseph (or anyone else),

If there's something specific you're looking for, just let me know and I'll see if we can help you out. It's true that we don't carry as many new releases as we did 3 or 4 years ago, but we try to compensate by doing a lot of special orders for customers.

We can't get all releases, of course, but it never hurts to ask.

Nate/Zzz

nate- you all are VERY good at special orders. i just miss being able to look thru new releases and finding stuff i didnt know about or forgot about. i also understand how that sucks from a business viewpoint. to overstock and not sell whats there. i know its all about demand and im assuming there isnt much demand in des moines.

from a personal viewpoint it sucks to not be able to find much locally so i stop shopping locally and start mailordering and then i go to minneapolis and spend 300 bucks in 2 hours but then i gotta pay for gas and blah blah blah. i do understand its a first world problem....

ive got the same issue with shows....

OH i also got this CASSETTE
Daniel HIggs
Image
http://www.moonglyph.com/
"I can see you very clearly from here,” Daniel says between songs on "Ultraterrestrial Harvest Hymns", his voice a whisper under a hoarfrost of tape sound. As a synecdoche, the moment demonstrates the album’s extra-aural qualities, making sound beyond sound, pushing statements beyond artifice. Moon Glyph is honored to present to the listeners Higgs’ latest (MG25), an album of maundering banjo ragas, paeans, carols and canticles. There’s also a didgeridoo at one point. A shambolic drum machine, as well. Throughout runs its creator’s oftentimes overlooked mirth, a reverent and theandric mirth threaded into heirloom melodies and proclamations that sound neither bumptious nor inauthentic, but dutiful and vatic. An hour in length, "Ultraterrestrial Harvest Hymns", was recorded directly to tape in Northern California, Autumn 2010 and “is offered unto The Divine."

How is that Higgs tape? I thought about picking it up but it's a little more than I would usually pay for a tape...

its uhm... alright. he talks a little here and there(actually very little) but its mostly his nonsense. almost all instrumental. the first bit with the drum machine is my favorite. it sounds like he just fooled around a lot and put it all together.

i balked at 7 bucks too but it does include shipping which is usually 3-4 bucks anyway. i think they sell for 5 if you can find them in a store... and id pay 5 for it so i figured why not.

it also showed up 2 days after i ordered it. which was nice.

I probably will order, really curious to hear it.

I just put together that it was recorded in Northern California last fall and has Harvest in the title haha. A dude from NY stayed with us this fall on his way to California to work a harvest at a pot farm that he said Daniel Higgs was also working at.
