Iran would destroy Israel. While Israel does have a modern, effective and efficient army they've had A LOT of luck and the benefit of dealing with a relatively unorganized enemy in the past. When the Arabs have tried to attack Israel, usually they make the mistake of not really working together and just sending some shit in to overwhelm the Israels. A well thought out effort would yield those results.

The Iranians are an advanced people with a modern, well trained and large military. Israel couldn't hold up against them. Of course we'd probably end up having to bail them out...

True. Look at China, they've got a huge military but man for man they can't even come close to a Western military and there's a huge gap in technology.

Israel has some top-notch special forces units as well as their paratroopers. The rest of their military is about on par, give or take, with most Western militaries, nothing special. They just happen to be surrounded by Arabs, who make shitty soldiers. The Iranians are a different breed of cat. They're going to generally be a little smarter than the Arabs, a little more organized, probably a little more resolve and have better technology. While Israel has performed well in their previous wars, the Arabs performed miserably thus making Israel look better.

If there were a way to play out Iran fighting a war on a kick-ass simulation or something, I'd love to see it. I don't really want to see it for real, but I'm sure they've got more than most people give them credit for.

I missed a chance two years ago to go to Israel and train with a unit from the IDF for a couple of weeks. I wish I would've gone. I hear it was hot as hell and the chow sucked, but it would've been cool to blow off some steam and shoot some Jews with paintball rounds.
