DUMPSTER diving.
Are there any good places in Des Moines to dumpster dive tight shit? Actual items, not food. It's for my art class...
Re: DUMPSTER diving.
Or Ames. I don't care. Somewhere in the Ames/Des Moines area is fine.

The only time I really hit it is when the seasons switch. You can get hooked up with anything in this town with as many kids that move. In general I'd say stick to the higher end dorms i.e. Eaton or Freddy. Otherwise if you want something you know a business might be throwing out, I'd just go and ask them for it.

find a store, jump in its dumpster.. that's the only way of knowing of any cool things.xkristyx wrote:Are there any good places in Des Moines to dumpster dive tight shit? Actual items, not food. It's for my art class...
i've found some neat things at some west side stores. one time, went to a chain bookstore, jumped in their dumpster, first thing i pick up, porn. the rest was nothing of any interest at all.
Even today, I can't see a car run a red light without instantly having an image flash into my head of a man's erect penis, penetrating a watermelon.

If ya don't wanna post it then PM me! It's sort of an inconvenient time to be assigned this project... because yeah the dorm/close to campus dumpsters are chock full of goodies.
I've found plenty o porn in a certain "chain bookstore" dumpster.
Is there stuff in like, goodwill and salvation army dumpsters? I guess I just want a general idea of what to hit and what is a waste of time.

You people don't wear gloves or protective clothing doing this? That's relatively pretty fucking scary to me.
Re: DUMPSTER diving.
the dumpster in the parking lot of sweet bee. they have some weird shit sometimes. jerry that runs the building & was a vending machine salesman. now he sells "antiques" mostly oddball furniture and machines. trevor used to get some weird fucked up shit from there. and the bands throw away some random stuff. and jerry never seemed to care when we were going thru it. as long as we werent throwing shit all over his parking lot.

do grocery stores throw away beer? just curious.
Re: DUMPSTER diving.
nope. neither do liquor distributors. the employees usually get to keep all the damaged.... goods.Hank Fist wrote:do grocery stores throw away beer? just curious.
