Hailing from East Los Angeles with a moniker ripped from Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, 400 Blows couldn’t be anything but punk. Singer Skot Alexander survived a plane crash, guitarist Scott Martin designs t-shirts, and drummer Kevin Fitzgerald has been a member of the So Cal punk band the Circle Jerks since 2001. The band wasted no time crafting their minimalist, stripped-to-basics punk rock and in 2003, the same notorious LA Weekly that nursed the band’s beginnings named 400 Blows the Best Punk Band in Los Angeles. Talent can do whatever it is capable of, but Genius can only do what it must. 400 Blows are either geniuses, or not, but they do what they must, and it’s never short of brilliant.
