not to justify it, but they are rioting because the officer who shot an unarmed man in the back was convicted of involuntary manslaughter rather than murder. it was obvious he would be found guilty because there was clear video evidence of his crime. involuntary manslaughter is a slap on the wrist.

is this from that video of the cop quick drawing this gun instead of tazer on the guy at the BART station? if it is and i remember the video right it was manslughter... unless they consider premeditation less then a second now. i also remember an artical published before the incedent saying they should have a different spot to hold their tazers due to confusing then with their guns in the heat of the moment.

he got involuntary manslaughter, meaning they thought it was an accident. the person was on his stomach with his hands cuffed behind him. he was restrained. the cop had no need to draw his tazer and tazer the guy and if he had it would have still been wrong. not to mention that a tazer and a gun have different feel, weight, etc so that leads a person to believe it wasnt an accident. also not to mention that the cop had his tazer in his hand minutes before the shooting. he would have had to put the tazer back and then draw the gun which leads you to believe this wasnt an accident. at the very least he should have gotten voluntary manslaughter. with the involuntary, he'll get time served and probation. it was a slap on the wrist for him and people are pissed about it. rightly so. rioting doesnt help anyone but you cant exactly think that people wont be outraged by this. there was a peaceful protest happening before some decided it was better to riot.

Also, to add to the gun/tazer thing. Every cop usually shows distress after doing something accidental like that by saying, 'oh my god, it was accident' or something along those lines. This guy didn't even mention it until days later. It is definitely kind of sketchy. Some people are just naturally quiet but I feel like he would have said it was accident right after it happened if it truly was... anyway ACAB right guys?

I think involuntary manslaughter or some other degree of manslaughter is probably fair. It was an unforgivable mistake and he should definitely be punished but I highly doubt he intended to shoot him -muscle memory gone wrong. I would maybe go into this in more detail but my desktop is getting fixed and I'm on an eee pc using wireless in Hy-Vee's parking lot and I don't like typing on this.
