Varg Tour Blog
Just going to keep a brief collection of thoughts on here because it takes to long to write shit down and I never have the time to do it. I'm not doing it for any other reason than to be able to reference it later, so you can eat a dick.
These are just some of the more memorable shows & moments thus far.
Lake Station, IN:
The show was a bad idea right from the start. Almost left shortly after we got there. It was an off-day headline show that was to be followed by a 13 hour drive to Brooklyn, NY that night. The venue was more of a basement to the bar above it and 8 other local bands were playing. Nowhere to put merch except outside. No equipment was going to be mic'd. Everyone was already drunk when we got there. And to top it off there were a few ICP fans. (This has become an ongoing joke...)
The promoter was "sketchy" so he had had to pay 100% of the guarantee in advance- had that not been the case, I'm almost positive we would have just left.
The drunk people were a nuisance. Thank God there was a cop there to escort at least three of them out. (One of which came back three more times. I'm not sure how he was even able to walk at that point. Someone told me this particular individual gets kicked out of EVERY show he goes to.)
The highlight of the night was easily this guy (I'm guessing around 22-27 years old) who had an eye patch. Started talking to me and Derek (new bass player) and eventually told us that his eye-patch wasn't for show like most people think. He removed the patch and showed us his missing eye. It wasn't like a flat smooth surface like I guess I thought it would be, but more like the eye had been removed and the lids were still there half open. Looked like a disgusting small Vag. He told us his old-man took a knife to him one night and cut it out. Dude was drunk and clearly has a fucked up life. He was in some band which oddly enough I can't remember now since he wouldn't stop talking about it at the end of the night when everyone was trying to leave.
New England Metal & Hardcore Festival- Worcestor, MA:
Probably the best show of the tour so far for me. I met a lot of people. Saw the Holy Grail guys again and hung out with them a little. Eli is cool as fuck. They seemed very surprised that I'm so into their band. I really think they're going to be huge. I saw the Skeletonwitch guys again and drank with one of them at the bar- who introduced me to this broad from sickdrummer.com so I set up an interview for Dave for the Allentown, PA show. I talked to Brian Fair from Shadows Fall for awhile. The guy is smart as hell when it comes to the music business. He knows everything thats going on and where it's headed. We're going to keep in touch via e-mail.
I met some of the Rose Funeral guys since they're friends with Cattle. Talked about a certain individual on this board who we mutually dislike. Dusty and I got along really well. Although a bit early, he asked if I wanted to go out on tour with them (and Behemoth) as TM in November.
I did an interview with Travis for Metalblade.tv. Should be up sometime soon. I haven't checked yet. From what I remember, it was pretty bad and probably shouldn't be up ever.
Mark Vierra was the only person from Prosthetic there, which kinda sucked. Only talked to him for a little while. I talked to some of the Metal Blade people I knew for awhile too. The only bands I kinda saw were Amon Amarth, Cannibal Corpse, and JFAC. I remember hearing some GOD AWFUL singer when I was in there at one point. Looked down to the stage and low and behold...it was Periphery. What a fucking mistake that guy was.
Oh and the LOTR flute band was way shitty too. Though not near as gay as Swashbuckle (who nobody saw because no one gets there at Noon.)
More later....

Nobody uses Myspace. Facebook doesn't allow more than like 250 letters per box. Nobody uses Livejournal. Plus, I know there's at least one person here that wants to read some of this stuff...
There's not much going on here anyway, gives you something to read.

Re: Varg Tour Blog
Most of the people posting wish they could be on a tour like this.

By the way, Varg, I'd much rather read about the bands and tour experiences you're having rather than all the people you're hobnobbing with.

From what I've caught, Max quit that band in part because they wouldn't sign to any label until metal blade made them an offer.

I find Varg's tour blog to be interesting. It's better than the usual racist, Ann Coulter worshiping drivel.

I'm going to, but you have to realize the tour hadn't really started by this point. I'm like two weeks behind. All that stuff is coming up soon...Metalfest was a networking event- which is why I talked about the people I met. Metalfest (aside from CA metalfest) is the only show of the tour like that. You guys should have known the whole thing wasn't going to be like this...
Yeah, nothing but a huge name dropping event. With so many Shadows Fall fans on this board, it seemed silly to NOT to drop names. Next time I'll just go with "some guy". I'm not even sure why I'm responding to this since everyone else got it. I didn't bring up "beef" with anyone- they did. And they fucking HATE this person. And that's almost as funny as having neck rolls.Bullet Tooth wrote:

Yeah, I'm sure they'd much rather hear about your shit-dick cum-guzzling adventures. If you care so little, why were you even at the show on 4/20?

Re: Varg Tour Blog
4/27- Baltimore, MD
Baltimore is a cesspool, both the city and people. The venue was in the middle of the hood. Hadn't seen a white person in at least two miles. Such a fucked up place to put a metal venue that only white kids frequent.
We tried to park in this parking lot behind the venue but some woman pulled into the spot as we were backing in. I went up to her window and tapped on it and said "Would you mind moving to a different spot? We were just about to back up into this one." She yelled back, "I'M HANDICAPPED OK? AND I'M LEAVING IN TWO SECONDS ANYWAY.''
What the fuck? Why is she being such a cunt when I asked her nicely and why is she parking if she's leaving in two seconds? So the 'owner' of this lot comes over and asked what the problem was. I told him we were trying to park and he said "Well you can't park in this lot, the venue doesn't own it, I do. I have to get customers in and out of here so you can't park here." So I asked him where I could park and he replied, "Well, I don't want to sound like a dick, but that's not really my problem."
No no no, you didn't sound like a dick at all.
Inside wasn't much different. The promoter wasn't there and wasn't coming that night so this giant half-sloth door-man creature was going to be doing double duty that night. The whole thing was unprofessional. Dude made us move our merch an hour after it had been set up because it was too close to where people were going to be coming in. (They were coming in through the back side door where the bands loaded in- not the FRONT DOOR FACING THE STREET. WHAT THE FUCK?) And of course he did this 15 minutes before doors. So I had to tear everything down and put it all back up again. Stupidest shit ever. We stayed with the Misery Index guys (Jarvis) the night before *****NAME-DROP*********
One thing most people learned rather quick on this tour, is that JFAC and White Chapel are LIGHT-YEARS apart from each other. JFAC isn't even as close to bad as most people make them out to be and Charn is an awesome drummer. White Chapel is a disgrace. The reason for them having three guitar players is beyond anyones comprehension.
The shows have been weird (I think) due to the fact that EVERYONE is there when doors open. There's no instances of people gradually getting there- they are all right there from the minute doors open. Gaza plays in front of just as many people as White Chapel. A lot of people seem to clear out after WC though and they have kinda been stealing the show. It's unfortunate because that seemed to have only further boosted some egos which we'll find out more about later on...

Re: Varg Tour Blog
so you are the merch guy
Re: Varg Tour Blog
No... I'm the Tour Manager. "TM". Some of my duties include advancing shows, settling with the venue/promoter at the end of the night (getting paid), filling out soundscan sheets, W-9's, paperwork stuff Cattle needs for taxes at the end of the tax year, making sure shit runs on time/gets done, etc. etc. And of course the occasional b.s. stuff like selling merch from time to time.
It varies from show to show. Sometimes Jon (JFAC tour manager) will settle for all the bands at the end of the night since he's the TOUR tour manager- it's really up to the promoter how all that is handled though. So for like the next ten days that we are headlining (Since JFAC is taking a short break for a family reunion thing) I'll probably end up settling for us and Revocation on a few of the dates.
BTW we have an off day in Iowa tonight/tomorrow. We'll be in DSM getting smashed. Revocation will be with us I believe. Possibly going to Lumberyard/Minx.

Re: Varg Tour Blog
avoid the minx. if its anything like when i worked there still, they dont allow anyone to stand up or be loud at all. they have old guys that come in and spend 3k a night pretty regularly so they keep it real tame. probably should avoid the lumberyard too if you dont like the blacks.Varg wrote:No...
