Dude, I don't get why you hate Touche Amore so much. I mean, I get that you don't like them, and that's whatever, but can you explain that last post?

Because they are hyped, and there are bands that have been playing their style for longer.

Screamo is one of the sub-genres of punk that I wish never happened. I dig that you all like it, but it is just something I could never get into. I went to ILM shows, but I didn't go for the music, just the hangin' out with friends. But do what you gotta do! I also dislike Touche Amore, but whatever.

Disliking a band because they are hyped and because other bands that play the same type of music have been around longer is fucking stupid. I'm assuming (hoping) that's not it, but if it is, shame on you. Evaluate bands for their music.

It's not the same type of music. It's an embarrassing bastardization of a type of music that came before and was much, much better. Touche Amore is average at best on a good day... actually, that shit is embarrassing, nevermind. I formed my opinion on the band AFTER seeing them live, which was corny. They tried to do the screamo clap for god's sake. They take everything that's good about a type of music and rip it away, playing only a skeleton of the style they claim influence from. I could give less a shit about hype. Cult Ritual was one of the most hyped bands last year and they are now one of my favorites. I fucking listen to Metallica.

Their music is stepping stone shit. It's not good, get over it. There's much better hardcore out there. There's much better CURRENT shit. You might as well listen to Good Clean Fun instead of Minor Threat.

I'VE NEVER FELT MORE ACCOMPLISHED.

I agree 100% with what joe said, i cant say i like or dislike the band they seem rad from what i've heard but the "trying" to hard thing i get.

I will need to listen to this band a bit more, since there seems to be so much HYPE alone in this thread for yay or nay lol

Joe, I do think you're trying too hard to form such an extreme opinion on a band that probably shouldn't invoke an extreme reaction from anyone. Touche Amore is pretty good, nothing amazing, definitely not horrible. I'm prone to do this myself, but I know that you as well get agitated when you don't like something that's hyped, so you go a little overboard with it. Remember how much you used to "hate" Modern Life is War?

I also don't see how they're trampling on the corpse of screamo, or whatever you seem to think they're doing. It's not like they're writing singy choruses and radio-ready structures like the bands who were co-opting the screamo name a few years ago. It's just a slightly different variation of an old style. Why is that such a heresy?

Maybe the internet is just overly angry this time of year. That band should try again in the spring.
