Re: ATTN: Elliot Imes and Cecil
Yeah, of course right after I post this someone posts he was a rip off. I still want one.
Re: ATTN: Elliot Imes and Cecil
Not sure about the color, but yeah that shirt rules. How is the guy a ripoff?
Re: ATTN: Elliot Imes and Cecil
i will look into him being a rip-off. i would totally get this if it is reasonable.

elliot- if youre still looking for some introduction to jazz that shit in juice/metromix is some of the worst advices
Re: ATTN: Elliot Imes and Cecil
I actually dug into "A Love Supreme" a bit more than I thought I would, but still, just not my thing. Much respect for Coltrane and his group, but I may not listen to it ever again in my life, unless I'm showing it to someone so I can see what they think.
I'll be listening to "A Kind of Blue" sometime in the near future, so we'll see if that does anything for me.

a love supreme is/was different. it took me quite a while to actually hear it. when i did it was crazy...
i grew up with my grandfathers big band teachings so i thought i knew jazz. coltrane opened up a whole world for me and explained a lot about what i already knew.
i am not a miles fan. his "cool jazz" is what i call "cooking jazz" its good in the background when your cooking dinner. although i am a big fan of his electric period.
coltranes ballads is much better imo
and much more accessible to non believers
do you like Nina Simone?

Re: ATTN: Elliot Imes and Cecil
I'm definitely way more likely to be down with Nina Simone, based on the little amount I've heard.
Re: ATTN: Elliot Imes and Cecil
oh... okay. i always assume everybody knows Nina. i can usually bridge someone into jazz if they like her.
do you like r&b?
