Best Salsa

Post by Crumpty Williams » Fri Aug 28, 2009 3:22 pm

I'm a huge salsa fan and I love spicy food in general. If you go to the "Hispanic" aisle at any Hy-Vee around town there's usually a decent selection of salsa. My favorite for quite some time has been Mad Butcher's hot.

I'm always looking to try new kinds but it sucks when you buy a whole jar and you discover in the first bite that you got some shitty stuff.... What kind(s) of salsa do you guys like/recommend?
i fucking rule.

The salsa that Hy-Vee makes is usually very good - nothing but vegetables and spices without that salt and preservative taste.

Mad butcher's is tight. It's made in northern Iowa. Fareway also carries it.

My family bought some mango-habanero from somewhere that was pretty magnificent.

Dude Kramer's is the one I was specifically referring to when talking about buying a jar and then totally not liking it. Mad Butcher's >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kramer's are you nuts?

my problem is that i hate chunky salsa. i like El Aguila style salsa. Smooth and spicy. i should probably just put my salsa's through a blender.

I love both chunky and thin salsa. I do agree that El Aguila does have some good salsa though. El Azteca is the best I've had at a Mexican joint in the DSM area.

rudy's tacos here in waterloo makes a great salsa. they also have a shop where they sell awesome hot sauces inside the same building.

i like the "homemade" salsa you can get at walmart (or used to) called rojos or something like that. i usually mix my salsa with something else: cheese or sour cream or beans or something like that. salsa by itself gets boring. i like the bean salsa you can get at target.

I guess I've only seen it in aluminum cans. Like a soup can.
