Record Store Day - April 18th

Post by Nick » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:09 pm

Anybody going to this on Saturday? I see ZZZ Records is a participating shop. There are a few decent "exclusive" or limited releases/reissues that I'd be interested in:

Bad Religion - s/t 7" reissue (colored, /1000)
Brand new Slayer 7" on blood red vinyl (RST exclusive)
Sonic Youth/Jay Retard split 7" - (RST exclusive)

See the whole list of albums being offered and the participating locations here:

Yeah...I also heard they are doing a sort of "Antique Roadshow" thing for people that want their vinyl appraised.

The date and releases for this year's Record Store Day have been announced. Nothing really exciting at all.

That Sonic Youth - "Hits Are For Squares" LP might be worth picking up?

The Moon and Antarctica repress would be cool. But it will probably be outrageously expensive.

Other than that, meh.

Not a lot you can't find elsewhere but Flogging Molly, Joe Strummer, DeVo and the Joy Division Box set look mildly interesting.

This is tomorrow.

They added a Hot Water Music 7" and the Ramones Mania double LP since I last looked at the list. Those mighe be worth picking up? That HWM 7" you could at least flip on eBay for millions of dollars if it sucks, which most live records do.

The Moon and Antarctica is $30, did not buy. I saw some Pantera re-issues, but they are also pricey.

There was an LP reissue of Exile on Main St., but it was $30, so instead I bought a used copy of Nerf Herder's self-titled CD for $1. I felt like that was close enough.
