Well, it's nice to see Iowa be progressive on something worth while for a change. Does this mean that we are going to get an increase in population? I think this is a win win situation with only one draw back. We are going to see more of that Fred Phelps asshole.Walking Thunder wrote:http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/04/us/04iowa.html?hp

Iowa Rep. Steve King condemned his state Supreme Court's Friday decision to lift a decade-long ban on same-sex marriage, saying it puts the state in danger of becoming a "gay marriage Mecca."
Oh no Steve!! Hundreds of violent gays will be flooding the streets!
Don't worry Steve, there's still plenty of houses in Sherman Hills that need to be remodeled, there's plenty of room for us all, Steve.
Steve, just keep working on your border wall model.

Don't forget the River Bend Neighborhood. There is a number of houses there in need of remodeling. Also it maybe the solution for all those unsellable condos.Hank Fist wrote:Iowa Rep. We will more than likely see an increase in childless couples with more disposable income.
I'm seeing nothing but win win.

I think Limp Wrist should play in Des Moines or IC to celebrate this decision.

If I eat meat, and count sheep to sleep, will the sheep come to eat when I sleep?
Re: Who wants to marry me?
Yes. The actually have a brand new album out soon and are playing the Insubordination Fest in Baltimore this year. I would suspect a tour afterwards wouldn't be out of the question.weirdtaylor wrote:is pansy divisoin still around because a show with them right now would be super fun!
EDIT: Just looked it up and I guess the new album is out already.

Re: Who wants to marry me?
I remember at a show 12 years ago some guy I didn't really care for wore a Pansy Division shirt to a show, touched a hot-headed skinhead and then he turned around, grabbed him by the throat and threatened to kick the shit out of him for trying to cop a feel or something on him. Pretty funny. The guy in the Pansy Division shirt wasn't gay but a little light in the loafers.
Anyways, I decided I'm for gay marriage in Iowa. I was never really opposed to it, just not as excited about it as some people seem to be. So back when Vilsack was governer they talked about bringing in refugees from all kinds of wretched places around the world and how it's going to boost our economy, enrich us culturally, "usher us into the 21st century" and provide population growth. I'm not sure how anyone's life has been enriched by Sudanese people, but if this was a ploy to attract teh gheys to Iowa, brilliant. We get people who generally have higher incomes (older gay couples) than average, have a stereotype that they take care of their homes, are civic minded, start and patronize interesting local business and support/enrich the arts. Why didn't we think of this sooner?

Word. I was in Jacksonville for spring break. They do a lot for gay people in the city because they are the number one group working to improve the city, start civic groups, improve culture, open restaurants, etc.El Rhino wrote:We get people who generally have higher incomes (older gay couples) than average, have a stereotype that they take care of their homes, are civic minded, start and patronize interesting local business and support/enrich the arts. I dying over here. Only because I believe you.servo wrote:i live above a rwandan refugee and all he ever does is get drunk and knock on my door at 2 am because he wants to hit on my girlfriend, so i can see where youre coming from.
I remember when all of the Sudanese/Rwandan refugees started coming to Iowa back in the early 00's. My parents sponsored a Sudanese family of six. They helped them get on their feet, bought them clothes and food, helped them get set up with a social worker to find a job, etc.
On the 4th of July (I'm guessing of 2001), my parents invited them all over to their house for a "traditional" American grill out/bbq. All six of them came. My parents lived just outside of Waukee on an acreage at the time. There was a wooded area right next to their house. While standing on the porch, grilling, Daniel (the father) walks up to me and asks "what sort of animals we have in the bush" and wondered if he could "come and hunt them." It was very funny to me at the time...but probably just because of his accent and how excited he was when he asked me. He really wanted to hunt some shit.
