is your butt really so hurt to the point where you would go find the ages of 11 outta 1000+ punks to try and make yer arguement? really who cares......punk is punk...punk is different to everybody who considers themselves part of the 'subculture' or whatever...punk is like an inside joke....amongst a whole bunch of people, because regardless of who we try to seperate ourselves from what-have-you, all the drama and bullshit still comes along with it...this makes no sense
punk makes no sense

anybody here listen to The Riot Before?
it's punk for northeastern dudes with beards that wear plaid shirts and tight black pants, but it's done better than most, IMO
and it's political, but I feel like their songs get deeper into the issues.

Their 2008 album was one of my favorites from last year.

No there are others that are stronger in the powers of punk than I.

Showing all you youngsters would be the last reason I would start a band again. My reasons would be lean more toward my own self expressions then leading anyone out of the wilderness.

The thought does cross my mind from time to time but I'm not sure I could find the time. Which means more than anything that the motivation isn't there. Cause if it was I'd have a band formed already. Though I have to say a bench mark of weather a band was any good has always been weather I would like to be a member.

name a metal band that has songs about dragons, wizards, and satan......

UM......

I don't think I can besides Ronnie James Dio and perhaps ManOwar.

SO uh, you are misinformed on your metal lyrics.

Also hardcore has gone WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

WAY
WAY
WAY
WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
downhill since the 90's

but then again so has music in GENERAL.

also in my humble opinion it's not that des moines does not like punk, or any genre for that matter....

it is that des moines like sitting on their asses in their own homes watching movies and/or playing video games.

That and the fact that bands themselves are getting lazier and uh sitting at home watching movies and/or playing video games.

We must not be attending the same shows.

I generally go to shows that I feel are worth the entrance fee and those shows generally have some sort of musical content that I admire.

if you most know, the last few Des Moines shows I went too.....

I saw the Blend last week, they kicked ass as usual.
I saw the knobs and identity crisis, and the crowd, the week before that.
I saw the mutts a week or so before that.

I am going to see Eric Sardinas at quite possibly the best music venue in our state this Wednesday, he ALWAYS, ALWAYS, KICKS ASS.

We(the mutts) played last week, but before that, the last show we played was the willie ogg show back in early Dec. I don't know what show you saw at a few weeks ago unless they have been playing shows without me.

There have been a ton of shows worth going to in the past months, and the cost couldn't get better than whatever you feel the need to donate. Your excuses SUCK!

Got to love a movie that has dogs killing a toddler in the first 5 minutes.

In the 80s you couldn't go to a show in the midwest and not see someone that got their style from that movie.

It still have some great footage, TSOL, The Vandals and DI.

The follow up "Dudes" is even better. Lee Vin plays a red neck that shots Flea.

Slayer, Metallic, Black Sabbath, every black or death metal band. The metal loves the Satan, the Dragons and the Wizards.

The point I was making is that Hardcore crossed over in the late 80s and seems to moved more and more to the metal side. The one thing that makes Hardcore stand out from metal is the fact the fucking lyrics usually have some meaning before them.

The 90s? Maybe it's hard to stay interesting and fresh when an independent sub-culture has been swallowed whole by the mainstream.

none of those bands have songs about dragons.

lol stfu. that's a weak fucking statement. all of the songs on show no mercy have more lyrical content than most hardcore band's lyrics from that time.

"You think you can destroy me? You'd better think again
I am eternal terror my quest will never end
I'll trap you in the pentagram
And seal your battered tomb
Your life is just another game
For Satan's night of doom"

VS.

KILL A COMMIE
I DON'T WANT TO GO TO WAR"

perhaps it was not the mutts, I was wasted and I swear matt mutt was playing, but.......

besides the point.......

I give no excuses, and the number of shows I attended in this area was much greater back when Hairy Mary's was around.

I dont really feel like I need to explain or prove myself, 100 percent of my time while not working a job since Ive moved back to des moines has gone to promoting shows, playing/practicing/recording, or attending shows.

You can believe that or not, I dont give a fuck.

I totally disagree with you about the adicts.......I think they are one of, if not the best full on punk band of all time.

I also really love The U.K. Subs, the clash, the misfits/samhain, the ramones, the adicts, the plasmatics, and the stooges.

I think that Motorhead is one of the best bands ever, and that they(mainly lemmy) mix awesome punk, kick ass rock n roll, and bad ass metal to form their style, spanning back to hawkwind.

aside from that I am not really a punker.

I am a metalhead, I am not an authority on punk, I just know what I like.

I don't take any prescription drugs, I would if I was sick, but I wouldn't take any mood or mind balance altering drugs or anything like that. Also I did not mean to sound hostile, I just get passionate about music.
