Yeah, pretty stupid. It looked unintentional, but it's a completely stupid mistake and the cop should be raked across the coals for it. We don't know what kind of stresses the guy put him under (and I imagine the guy was "chimping out" quite a bit before the cameras were turned on) but that's no excuse.

With that said, let's look a little further into this, shall we:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... 155CN1.DTL

The roving mob expressed fury at police and frustration over society's racial injustice. Yet the demonstrators were often indiscriminate, frequently targeting the businesses and prized possessions of people of color.

The mob smashed the windows at Creative African Braids on 14th Street, and a woman walked out of the shop holding a baby in her arms.

"This is our business," shouted Leemu Topka, the black owner of the salon she started four years ago. "This is our shop. This is what you call a protest?

LOL. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

"

Sykes, who is black, had little sympathy for the owner of Creative African Braids.

"She should be glad she just lost her business and not her life," Sykes said. She added that she did have one worry for the night: "I just hope nobody gets shot or killed."

Again, what the fuck is wrong with these people? Bitching about racial injustice, yet trying to destroy the livelihood of the people who have made it or are in the process of making it in their own community.

I feel like the night is going great," said Nia Sykes, 24, of San Francisco, one of the demonstrators. "I feel like Oakland should make some noise. This is how we need to fight back. It's for the murder of a black male."

As fucked up as the shooting appears to be, Miss Sykes should feel fortunate that white people don't act like that when there's a murder of a white person at the hands of a black person. I'd like to think that we would have the sense to not destroy our own neighborhoods though and go trash Runnells or Clive or some shit if a white guy got killed by a black guy. I understand being pissed off over this, I just thought her last sentence was funny. Believe me, the balance is skewed waaaaay in her people's favor.

Nearby, Godhuli Bose stood near her smashed Toyota Corolla as a man walked by, repeatedly called her a misogynist slur and then added, "F- your car."

Bose, a high school teacher, said: "I can't afford this."

Great job. Smash a teacher's car and call her a bitch because a cop shot some guy on the subway.

Mandingo Hayes, who is black, said he participated in the protest because "we're tired of all these police agencies getting away with shooting unarmed black and Latino males."

If I were black, I'd totally want to be named Mandingo. I'm sure police officers are tired of getting shot at by black and Latino males too. Maybe if you act civil things like this won't happen?

I guess the guy's parents are suing for $25 million dollars.

It's never too early to benefit financially from the death of a loved one.

Wait, I mean, FUCK THE POLICE.

There's a video of a couple minutes before the shooting here. I guess there were problems with these guys harassing other passengers on the BART and then a gang fight broke out. It does look like a very tense situation for the cops, they appear to be surrounded and all you can hear is hootin' and hollerin' from the blacks and the frequent use of the word "nigga".

I guess the guy who got shot was just released from prison a couple months ago.

Not to minimize the officers death, but that guy must have been a really good shot or just really lucky.

Looks more like he got really lucky. He had an assault rifle and managed to take out three when they came to his "crib". Hate to armchair quarterback, but it sounds like the SWAT assault was a little hastily planned. There's no good reason that this guy should have had the chance to take out three SWAT officers. I guess they went in without certain body armor and probably could've taken a little more time to think it through.

One sad thing about this is that some people are treating the criminal as some sort of hero, out administering justice against the oppressive, racist police department. Really he was nothing more than a total scumbag who couldn't manage to stay out of trouble at the expense of others (he originally went to prison for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon) who was selfish enough to believe that it's ok to kill someone to avoid potentially doing a year in prison, let alone four total once it's all said and done.

Another sad thing from the article:

"On Saturday afternoon, about 20 people taunted police near the scene of the first shooting."

Way to stay classy. These are probably the same people who will cry when the police take a calloused attitude towards them.

Another sad thing: Liberals are going to use this as an excuse to push for stricter gun control measures, instead of looking at who is using the guns. Places like rural Iowa, West Virginia and so on are armed to the teeth and there's pretty much zero gun crime. http://media.www.thecampanil.com/media/ ... 4004.shtml

Looks like this guy raped two women shortly before this incident.

I'm also a little shocked some of the usual suspects here didn't jump on this to scream about racism, police oppression, poverty and all the other possible excuses. Where has @nonymous been?
