i think this went over alot of peoples heads here...
the joke really has two cruxes.
one, there is humor in the idea that there would be strains of marijuana called danny glover and mel gibson because kids are dumb with weed names. the last stuff i got was called sugartits.
two, the idea that a chronic marijuana smoker would make a joke about mixing the two but for the punchline supply (in his highness, perhaps) a different buddy cop movie from the 80s than the one expected so that when one reads another 48 hours where one is expecting to read lethal weapon it creates humorous dissonance
