New roommate Nick is playing the 620 house tonight. I have a strange suspicion he may end up liking those dudes and hating us.

Effective 12/01.08

If we do not recieve promotional materials from your band/management AT LEAST 14 DAYS PRIOR TO SHOW DATE your show WILL be cancelled.

We are providing our HOUSE to bands to play here. The least you can do is promote yourself. it is not our job to do it for you. We're more than happy to distribute any fliers/otherwise that we are sent, but we're not going to continue to host shows for bands that dont promote themselves.

thank you

came to post that.
I think that is the lamest thing ever, how the fuck does what they just said help "build a better scene"?
fuck these dudes, I was considering messaging them about getting a show but fuck that...unless I can manage to sneak just do it, orville sash and knuckled down on there some how.
just sayin' it would be super fun to go there and play and make them never want to book a show again...

yup, I'm an asshole.

Who gives a fuck? If these guys want to book bands in their house and not involve all of you, that's their business. I understand these guys seem like total shit-stabbers, but I don't see why some folks here are getting worked up over these guys booking bands in their basement and not involving local bands. Big fucking deal.

So, I'm Nick, the new roommate at the Haunted Basement. I'll just say I'm neutral in this whole thing, as I haven't met most of you guys on here, or ever really even talked to you. I played at the 620 house not too long ago with my band, and I have to say, it was a rad operation they were running. The dudes are all nice to the bands, they DO book locals to support touring bands, and kids showed up. Isn't that what doing shows is all about? I see no reason why anyone should knock these guys. It seems awfully silly to get wrapped up in childish hipster high-brow antics. Scene drama is what hurts scenes, not kids doing shows in their basements. I'm sure we all hated the bullshit cliques in high school, right?

So what if they're doing shows in their basement, and so what if we're doing shows in ours? I'd like to see as many people come hang out and have fun at my shows, and if that means working, symbiotically, with the 620 House, then fine. I'll do anything I can to help a band trying to get by. Let's just have fun.

Nick

They're being "knocked" (I suppose) because they state outright that they DO NOT book local bands. It seems the locals they do book must be friends of the people at the house. I dunno, eh, I haven't been to the place yet, and there's no shows I'm even interested in seeing there... so, yeah, whatever.

agreed but i dont think you meant to use the word symbiotically...or maybe you did?

(symbiosis (sĭmbēō`sĭs), the habitual living together of organisms of different species. The term is usually restricted to a dependent relationship that is beneficial to both participants (also called mutualism) but may be extended to include parasitism, in which the parasite parasite, plant or animal that at some stage of its existence obtains its nourishment from another living organism called the host. Parasites may or may not harm the host, but they never benefit it.)

eons ago I used to use to basement of the haunted basement as a toilet whenever I hosted a large party and there was a line in the real bathroom.

I also took an ax down there one night and tried to break everything that was down there. James Fullerton stopped me and rescued the painting that Kyler pooped on (or maybe it was a different painting).

the night after the pooping, knuckled down had band practice at the haunted basement. joe and i went outside to look at the poop painting when it was in the field, the painting was there, but the poop had disappeared. i can only assume that it was eaten or stolen.
